Originally by: csebal Claiming that we were the reason for the BoB lag is plain lame. The reason was that the servers are unable to handle a load like this. Everybody knows that, and you still came in.
Now if you expect IMP just to step aside and let you in, then you are so terribly mistaken.
You were given a damn big advantage, there was noone standing on the gate - to my knowledge at least, we started to warp there when local started to climb, so we were just as well affected by the lag. For example i havent seen anything for the first two minutes of the engagements, and even after that, my lag was so terrible, that i havent managed to fire a shot.
I can assure you, i was not alone.
So cry me a river about how much it is our fault that you lost ships to the lag. Without the lag, there would have been a lot more casualties on both sides, especially on the BoB side, considering the odds.
Next time, think before bringing 100 more ships into a system with 200 in already. But if not, and you still insist on doing it, then at least be man enough to face the consequences, and do not try to blame the other side, for not making your task easier.
Thank you.
Personally, im not proud of these kills, but your pathetic attempt to blame us for your own mistake is just.. pathetic.
Excuse me, but a deal was made, to let us in, so that we could have a proper fight. If you want to dispute that, ill be happy to post the logs.
But sure thing, whatever, we know what your word is worth. Facts are stated, could care less about the rest.

if the servers had held out it might have been a good battle for the gate, but on my end i just sat there trying to lock and seeing the odd yellow square explode every couple of mins

I removed my post already, so i consider your answer / reaction null and void. If you would edit your post to reflect that, that would be nice, thank you.
I realize my post was still up when you started reacting. Sorry for the.. well.. flames, im just not happy about people blaming others for their mistakes, but lets not fight it out on the boards, we have ships for that.
Oh, and for one, i would love to see those logs, just out of curiosity. ;) Not that i would care. Regardless of the *deal*, i know that the imp gang was the last to arrive, well, based on the lag at least, so i do not feel bad about the battle, especially considering that i wasnt able to fire a single shot. - This post is my personal opinion. lol, 100au.
I wonder if other gang was about to jump and BoB gang would have been asked to go 100 AU and let people in and quickly SS. You think i beleive that youd engage 80 vs 150? lol

If we had 150 and the other gang had 80, we would let them in and prolly sit and let them warp in on us whatever they wanted.
As for engaging 80 vs 150, we've engaged worse odds than that before and would have given anythign to have been given a shot at it there.

Unfortunately that was the problem, you guys did get your screens to load eventually, where as ours didn't. We instructed people to warp even though they only saw space, the gate didn't even load let alone enemy ships.
It's a shame as that could have been EveÆs biggest ever fleet battle, with numbers in the region of 170 (GIMPRAD) v 90 (BoB).Perhaps next time we can actually make it happen.

yeh it would have been a great battle... but alot of our guys myself included were lagged as bad as you, i couldnt lock or fire on anything i saw, and the large portion of your fleet that got away from the gate never appeared on my screen

I won't comment on the possible lack of honor here, but that would have been a battle for the ages. It's unfortunate whoever commanded there didn't have the balls to wait another minute for a proper fight. I'd be proud to be a Bob member today, fighting against those odds.... damn proud.

It's common sense to not allow a hostile fleet of 80+ ships into your alliance's home system, where that hostile alliance has a POS setup where they could possably inflict more damage.
As for the agreement that was made, i do not know because i was just listening on TS, but it sounded like some people misunderstood a command and warped pre-maturly. It happens, the ships will get replaced i am sure on both sides so no harm no foul.

Its days like these when I am not happy to be a member of this community, and a player of this game. Large scale, epic fleet battles is the pinnacle of pvp.. and I've been waiting for it since I laid eyes on EVE. Everything up to that has been a distraction from what I really wanted to begin with.
This is just a reminder that we might be better off than we were two years ago with server and client performance.. but that it will never keep up with how many people can actually get into these fleets.
I hope I don't come off as racist or anything by saying this, but I dont see what difference the Kali improvements will make if EVE is opened up to the asian market. It'll just result in more players, bigger fleets and the same general stupidity, you know? _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning.

One possible solution is that the devs could add a small number (4?) of "high-load" cluster servers--with massive multiproc setups, insane amounts of RAM, easily costing 5 times more than a normal cluster machine. They would automatically be assigned to handle systems with huge numbers of players--the highway systems, or during a fleet battle, out in 0.0. -- Proud member of the [23].

Now *that* was a fleet battle.
