The research log of Soleil Fournier, YC 106.08.15 05:24, based out of Auner, Tiat.
I shouldnÆt be pouring over research data at this hour as IÆve Federation Navy desk work in several hours but I feel as if IÆm so very close! IÆve been saying that for the past weeks though. But I cannot help it! I get the chills when I think I might be near something, but all that aside, IÆll cut to the chase. And please do bear with me; scientific publications have always flustered me. I get too technical.
My research has been on the potential use of isotopes as reactor coolants that seem to hint at consequential increases in navigational efficiencies, a sizeable array of them actually, the most notable sequential result being a possible solution to the problems brought about by a vast number of bookmark residencies operating within any single gate or station sphere at a given time. And so in brief, I think I may have a solution to lowering the need for bookmarks for instant travel jumps and docks in full.
By interacting different isotopes with reactors I have come up with several theorems that hint at bonuses and deficits between the reactor and propulsion drives, primarily in agility, acceleration, signature radius, warp-in distance, overall speed, propulsion device efficiency, and warp drive efficiency. The down side is that there is a drain on the isotopes, different for each, and so they require replenishing. I therefore think vessels could go through a standardized refitting to allocate them with a drone-bay like hold capable to accommodate isotopes, the desired type placed within and then consumed as travel-drain ratio for that particular isotope afforded; granted you wouldnÆt need a coolant but it would merely augment.
IÆd like to go into more detail but I think IÆve said all that needs to be, and hopefully itÆs made sense. In hind sight, this may all be rather off as I just came across my first official set of research tools in the last two days and am currently in my free time going back through old data to recheck what I first managed to stumble across with an impromptu set of research tools and resources. Hopefully there are no large flaws in my findings to undermine this.
