On of my alts is currently training up all the leadership skills as he has nothing else to do in his current role, can anyone please tell me this, I am aware the leadership skills only work for gang members but does it take effect if you are in the gang, system or can see the other players?
So in simple would my alt give me the speed bonus if I am sat the other side of the gate to him?
Advice apreciated.

No, you have to be in the same system as the gang member with the leadership skill.

the guy with the skills must also be in space (in 0.0, cloaking him at a safespot would be best approach)

Many thanks for that folks.
My aim is to have him in a BC with gang assist modules fitted and I am hoping for a cloak but not sure if it's gona work, do you know if the gang assist modules need to be activated to give a bonus or are they a passive module?

They are active modules so I am assuming that you would not be able to use them while cloaked.

Many of these bonusses require you to be in the same grid (you can see each other in space) as the one that gives the bonusses. What you could do (check if it is an exploit first - never got around to checking it) is to train the skills on your main and leave the other char cloaked to gain the leaderships skill bonusses yourself (basically only using the alt to be in a gang, nothing else...)

That is kinda what he does atm, for PVP my alt with the almost maxed out gang bonuses is in gang but hardly ever fires a shot so thats why I am thinking bout a BC but when I am NPC hunting he flys a hauler or Medic.
But I thought it would have to be the same grid and thats a shame but makes perfect sence or big fleets would form all over the place with 1 guy using these skills.
