That was the Castor overview, which was quite inefficient. The new one is far, far better.
Though that 3d radar in the lower right would make a *far* better system scanner overview, esp for probes if CCP ever gets smart and makes them work in a sphere rather than 2au plane.

Dude the radar was a piece of crap it was the WORST thing ever' I don't know anyone who ever used it and trying to fight fleet battles with the old ghetto scanner was interesting though actually I kind of like the speed of the old scanner. Overview is ugly and buggy but its still a great tool to have. And those stupid rings... around enemy ships ... looked so ghetto Supremacy Keepin it Real

Anyone who actually used the radar would know it was completely utterly useless. Everyone I know (including myself) turned it off.

I miss that old font. It was so very pleasing to the eye.

Edited by: Vydek Daamth on 17/08/2005 01:40:26 The radar had its place before the overview was added. Remember to lock a target you had to right click the ships in space? What did the icons look like for the players and rats? If I remember I like those icons better. Just watch Arcains Dark Empire video. You can tell when hes using the radar to rotate and target. Man the good 'ol days...sucked.

Edited by: Daniel Jackson on 17/08/2005 01:58:47 that 3D blue thingg, we still have that, BUT its differnt, its called Tatical Overview, its below the scanner button. i beleve.
any way i think that that over view was better :) i liked hoe the modules fitted on the round thing in the middle and u had to click these dots to switch between high, med, and low slots.

"overveiw is 100 times better than the threat window "
Threat window had the coolest sound ever, though ;.;
(just enough to give you a tiny heart attack with each 'click'. though counter-lock sound does the job sometimes, too)

the overview window, and tatical ovvercew are 2 differnt things, the tatical overview puts a tranparent white ball around your ship etc

The castor UI was a miserable piece of ****. The only good things about it were the double-click to warp-to and the big red stop button (although that was fugly).
If you ever tried to use drones (or pre-EW changes, if you were cycle jamming), you would never ever say anything about wanting to go back to the castor UI. Ever. ------------------------------------------------ Derailing threads with logic since 1992 |

Edited by: SpaceDrake Storyteller on 17/08/2005 05:53:43 God yes, the old UI was terrible. You didn't have instant-click access to all your modules at once (never mind a green-light-red-light overview of what was activated or not). That alone made it a total piece of crap.
And before anyone says "STFU n00b", I beta tested EVE from Alpha 7, so trust me, I know how bad the old UI used to be.
You couldn't even see how much structure HP a ship had left in the old targeting UI, FFS. That always drove me mad. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?
