If your talking npc convoys you get around stations, then they only appear in 0.5 - 1.0 as far as i know.
Should be some other threads if you look back, but to be honest they drop crap and it isnt really worth it

OK... wait till the convoys are at least 150km away from the station before killing them... they're loot should be various consumer goods.

Actually, it's not the Convoy that needs to be 150km away from the station.
You need to be a healthy amount of k's away from the Sentry guns around the station. Don't know if it's still valid, but used to be that the different types (I-III) had different ranges.
Might also be an idea to pack a Cargo Scanner to see if the hassle of waiting and killing the Convoy (=standing loss) is actually worth it.

Not valid anymore. I have been told by many convoy hunters that now the rule is that the convoy AND you must be 75km from the STATION. I know someone who was shot at 158km from the station and sentries because the convoy was too close. -- Proud member of the [23].
Want your POS to make money? Call me up. I've designed POSs that make upwards of 50m a day. |

Having never hunted convoys, can someone explain in plain english the following. I have seen multiple stories on the following, so can anyone give me the facts please before I end up losing my cruiser.
1. Do you get a sec hit if you attack convoys? 2. Assuming myself and the convoy are more than 150KM away from every sentry, am I safe? or does Concord sent a ship out to get me?

pah, all wrong!
Im an experienced convoy hunter, you just have to wait for the convoy to leave the first station and then shoot it at the dest station, as long as it isnt from the same corp you are free to shoot.. but I dont recomand to fly to the station wich you just shot the convoy from with in some time...
and afcourse you get a standing hit towards the corp, but not security hit. (Unless its a COncord convoy ?)
you can get lots of good stuff out of those convoyes, military convoys are the best ;)

Actually turrets in empire now fire at an undetermined range. You should expect a range of 150km from 0.0 to 0.5 but above that the ranges get further out. I lost a mega at 160km from sentrys in 0.5 and CCP couldn only say "we can't confirm what happened." Convoys noit worth it and CCP fubared them being protected as they can't be killed any longer. BTW, no standing loss with concord occurs, jsut with that faction.
