For past weeks I have been like a four year old in candy shop when buying games for steam. No terminal, no errors, just click and play.
Valve is also going to bring out the linux console later this year.
So why not to join Valves bandwagon?
Ubuntu at today is very stable platform for gaming. Many large gaming companies will release some box office hits to linux at this year. Many MMOs will hit the market too.
What will CCP do? |

I think the problem is that CCP didn't want to keep spending money to collaborate with Cedega.
It's a pity that CCP can't/won't release their own platform to do what Cedega does, except explicitly for EVE. |

Yes, I remember and I used that. Back then wine had better performance than native client.
Nowadays graphic drivers for linux are much better. Also nvidia and ati are both supporting linux.
Ubuntu today stands at over 20 million users. Today linux has two brances, debian and red hat, in other words ubuntu&mint and fedora as average users point of view.

I think the Linux kernel system was just used too little back when EVE first started. IBM and Apple still had their claws in our throats. Now Linux is thrashing it's way out onto the mainstream and I think CCP should give it another go 'round.
+1 for EVE on Linux. |
