I recently returned and found my skills and fit to be out of date and lost my raven and nearly lost my domi on a level 4 mission.
So i have gone back to the drawing board with my domi since i was gone during all the big drone changes. I have come up with a couple fits im working with and would like some advice on which seems better because its not obvious to me.
Heres a modification of what i started with when i came back. Basic dual rep domi altered to fit a DLA. http://i.imgur.com/9LS4atj.jpg
Here is what i was thinking of going with. http://i.imgur.com/VnbfQmi.jpg
Now here is where im having trouble deciding. As you can see because of my skills the resistances on the shield tanked version are higher but the tank itself is less than the dual rep armor tank. The big difference is in damage output, the shield tank version blows the other away.
What would you guys choose for level 4s? Is that tank enough for level 4s? I suppose i could just buy another domi and test them but i figured i would save my isk and get advice first because im sure there are some things i should be switching around. |

No that wont be enough tank, if you want to shield tank you need the navy one and some pimpage.

There have been some very recent threads on the L4 Dominix.
Take note of the Micro Jump Drive fits, those are new and all the rage these days.
Also note that no one suggests dual rep fits. That's because they are kind of crap. |

Seriously, as you can obviously fly Gallente and Caldari and want to shield tank, I would go for a Rattlesnake. They're expensive to buy but think of it as an investment; it will earn you isk much quicker and you can always sell it to get your initial investment back. You can do a cap stable active tank that is more than enough for all lvl 4's and still fit two drone omni links in the mids. I fit 4xDDA2s and use Garde2s, Warden2s, Curator 2s and some Hobs and mission in Caldari space. I find 800+drone dps out to 50km+ with the Gardes rips through most missions in no time, and that's not including dps from any missiles you fit. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. |

182dps omni tank is gonna break in a lvl4.
Stick a micro jump drive on it and use sentries. Tank wont matter too much then. When they start to get too close you jump to another spot and redeploy sentries. |

I dont and im not sure what the above poster is talking about.
So i looked into the navy domi in EFT and at first it didnt seem possible until i realized EFT is missing a TON of stuff. Looking on the market i was able to price a navy domi and fittings. So going loosely based on the first posters fit i threw together a navy domi and it performs quite well. Still not sure its worth the massive difference in price over my normal domi after i altered that fit but i can always resell it all if i dont like it.
When i get some time to get in game i will post my fit in both and see what suggestions people have since im sure i screwed something up somewhere XD. |

So heres the normal domi now http://i.imgur.com/GRjkEoa.png
And the navy domi http://i.imgur.com/AAKtw4e.png
Any advice is very welcome. Also, with my typical grinding playstyle i plan on using the normal domi for mindless grinding with netflix going on my other monitor so i do like to stay cap stable with a strong tank just in case. Navy wont be used except full focus grind once i finish some skills up. |

NPC's usually have two primary damage types that they do except angels and drones. EANM is usually not fitted on PVE ships and it provides omni resists.
According to your fit, what rats are you fighting that have primary damage explosive and secondary thermal?
PS. Train hull upgrades 5 asap. |

Is thinking an alien concept to you? The guy lost a raven and almost lost a domi due to bad fit and skills. He needs to setup a decent gank and tank before thinking about moving faster to the next gate. You know what really kills your efficiency? Loosing ships, warp outs and **** dps.

Just throwing that out there. Bringing up the question of efficiency, and then suggesting a MJD is rather counter-productive. |

You're missing a few very basic skills here. Repair systems and weapon upgrades to 4 are not optional. I would use a t2 damage control on your armor version. Shield domis are really a thing for people to get more dps once they have high skills. If I were you I would just take the armor fit and put it on your navy version. Since you are really having trouble with an effective tank, the extra midslot/hp on the navy version will help. I would start with trying to get the two serpentis reps capstable on the navy domi and fit it from the bottom up.
Lows: 2x serpentis large reps (if you don't already own these just get t2. t2 large reps should be priority 1) 3x armor hardeners specific to the rats you're fighting. 1x DDA t2 a second drone damage mod or a t2 damage control
rigs 3x ccc rigs.
mids 1x federation navy omnilink enough cap recharger ii's to be cap stable. Another omni link or a sensor booster or afterburner in the last midslot
highs: drone link augmenter, however many 350mm guns that fit.
As your skills get higher or you are able to pay attention to your tank more, you can do things like switching to 1 large rep, 4 resistance mods, and 2 drone damage mods. You'll have excess cap with one rep, so you can then swap out cap rechargers for other mods. Eventually you'll want to switch a ccc to an auxilary nano pump.
Lastly, getting t2 armor hardeners with hull upgrades 5 is a huge improvement in your tanking ability. You can get the 55% resistance bonus without that skill by using certain faction hardeners, like shadow serpentis. I would definitely be rocking a few faction or t2 hardeners before dropping to one rep. Some first-hand PI tips |

Basically the path you want to take as a domi pilot is:
Good armor skills >>> good drone skills >>> good gunnery skills >>> good shield skills >>> fly something like this (swapping out hardeners, a prop mod and drones as needed)
EDIT: Good skills entails t2 everything with all the longer support skills at 4 and the more core ones at 5.

The rattlesnake is a TERRIBLE mission ship. A vanilla t1 domi is better. Tanking missions is easy once you get some skills, being "good" at missions is all about completion time, which comes mainly from damage projection (and sometimes mobility, depending on the mission itself). The rattlesnake has terrible damage projection, and caps out at about half the DPS of a well fit navy domi. |
