Hi Slots: 6 Tachyon Beams w/ 6 Crystals (Standard to Radio)
Med Slots: 2 Sensor Booster IIs 1 Tracking Computer IIs
Low Slots: 4 Tracking Enhancer IIs 4 Heatsink II
That should up your damage, but you'll sacrifice some range, but using Radio Crystals means you will put out horribly low damage anyways since they only EM dmg.
Either that go with maxed Tachyons, 2 Sensor Booster II, 1 Tracking Computer II, and 7 Heatsink II and then have a Blackbird or Scorp booster you with tracking links.

could try megabeams, less harsh fitting requirements so you should be able to get 7 on with a little love.. they also have slightly better tracking.
7 MB II / 1 Smart bomb 2 Sensor booster II's 1 Tracking Comp 1/2 RCU II 6/7 Heatsinks

I'd fit less heatsinks though. Due to stacking penalty you won't even notice the 6th and 7th one really. With Tachions they make a (very small) difference, with Mega Beams you don't even notice.
Either use the low slots for tracking, or use PDU II instead of RCU II for the bonusses to shield and cap.

Edited by: HippoKing on 19/08/2005 08:56:58 i've never set up a gank BS, but i've been told that somewhere along the line, the sheer size of the multiplier it is acting on means that any heatsinks beyond this point have MORE effect than the first even though the stacking penalty hates them
i think it is the 6th or 7th heatsink when using HS2s
i'm not entirely sure about this though - i'd test it out
edit: hey - i remember u zacron, u tried to ransom my caracal in a BB when i was a noob - i got away \o/ - was my first escape from a pie

there is no difference between 6. and 7.? Oh so even less between 7. and 8.?
I guess someone needs to do more forum w***ing. And for sniping, maybe apoc is better. But has probably crappier dmg.
Oh, and a sidenote: sniping = ghey

I guess you haven't bothered to test or calculate the difference.

You shouldn't listen to everything you're told
On an armageddon, using HS2s, the bonus you receive from the 7th HS2 is larger than the bonus you receive from the 6th. Not larger than the bonus you receive from the 1st.
Then bonus from the 8th, is in turn larger than the bonus from the 7th.
It takes about 35 or 40 HS2s before you start receiving bonuses larger than the 1st HS. Unfortunately we don't have any ships with 40 low slots
The point at which the bonuses start increasing relative to the previous module decreases the larger the bonus is. So a Tech 3 HS with a better bonus than a Tech 2 HS, would maybe start increasing at module 5 or 6.

Mega beams easier fitting, use less power, faster RoF, slightly less damage than tach per hit but slightly better DoT due to faster RoF.
Tach are fun to use but mega beams really are the better long range laser.

Edited by: tenp1 on 19/08/2005 18:12:07 If I remember right
7x Tach II Sensor Booster II 6x Heatsink II, 2xRCU II
may be 5x heatsink II and 3xRCU II though, or maybe 2xRCU II and 1x CPU II, I guess it depends on skills. Tech 1 versions should fit a hell of alot easier
