If reinforce timers are the means to allow defenders to get time and organize, why do structures have such insane amounts of EHP?
having to grind millions and millions of HP from structures not only forces everyone to need to fly massive dread fleets, but also makes a large part of the game quite boring.
just saying but maybe structure HP could be massively cut given they have reinforce timers? say... to 1/10 tenth?
either way once the defenders are killed, it doesn't matters if the structure they were defending has a trillion HP or 100k hp, it will die, but having to fire at it for 3 hours, its unnecessary, specially when you take onto account that you already had to wait freaking 24 if not more for the reinforce timer, which means your enemies already have plenty of time to setup a defense if they really care about said structure. |

I'm quite sure the last sov mechanics iteration was designed by someone who thinks watching big numbers trickle up or down is fun. Mining Overhaul Nothing changed since 2008. |

Because the grind itself is also an opportunity to organize a fleet between receiving the mail that an attack is in progress and the structure going into reinforce. Hitting it with a dozen supers and a hundred dreads of course will reinforce it almost instantly, so big alliances win EVE. But hitting it with 3 dreads will take a while and it allows for the setting up of a counter-drop by, again, big numbers. There's a pattern here - you get it? Mega alliances/coalitions own EVE. Join one, or get out of null. |

At 100k hp, you could drop titans and kill it really fast and leave.
That said, at 100k hp, you could also rep it up really fast and stront it on the defending side. Sure, the attackers have to shoot it again (which will take hardly any time) but then no fights, and the carriers are only at risk for a short time.
Heck with a fleet that has a lot of Chimera/Thanatos "slowcats" you might not need to triage with that many. I am a nullsec zealot. |

There's only one thing more boring than structure grinding, and that's structure remote repairing. |

Which is why a valid tactic is to reinforce your opponents things over and over when you never actually intended to take them. Yes, EVE is the game of boring your enemy to death by refusing to undock, by refusing to fight, by refusing to take systems, etc. CCP should take note. |

War is 99% waiting 1% action...
The EVE economy is not the only thing CCP put a lot of time into to make it realistic. |

I disagree. When you attack you do it on your own terms and a lot of the time you face no threat at all but repairing is done on the enemy's terms. The hostile presence is confirmed. They know you're coming to repair the tower and the danger is ever present.
Putting a POS into reinforced is like drilling concrete with an electric screwdriver. Repairing is often like.... The Valithria Dreamwalker fight actually.
The Battle of Wizna. Like the movie 300 but against German tanks. |

I m sure 1/10th of the HP would still quite a while to take down with the average non thousand capitals blob....
but then maybe structures could have some kind of temporal penalty after going out of reinforcement? like a period with 0 resistances? |
