You (Karl) have a go at me for shouting because people are ignoring my key point - THAT THE TACKLER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO KILL THE BS BY ITSELF AND THUS ALREADY NEEDS A SECOND PILOT BY DEFAULT - and then go on and ignore that point the whole way through your entire, wholly pointless post. Are you surprised I'm getting slightly irritated?
The fact that you don't seem to understand why "sized" modules are different from unsized, I can deal with. The fact that you claim it's not a money issue and then turn around and equate balance to cash outlay, I can deal with. Hell, I can deal with either you being annoyed at me shouting or you ignoring my point about tacklers requiring a second pilot. It's frustrating, but I can deal with it. But when you do both in the same goddamn post, that's just dumb, and I hate arguing with dumb people.
If you had bothered to pay attention to my last post I believe I said it was the OP that made the argument that "solo play" was being restricted by requiring more than one person to hold/gank BS. If you weren't the OP, or the originator of this statement, the FFS why are you acting like you are?
If you don't believe in it, that's great! We can finally agree on something. If you do agree with the "solo play" theory, the dangers of such abilities should be obvious.
Yes, you did say "OP argument". You also used the word "you" the whole way through while replying to my post. That suggests to me that you're addressing your comments and your argument at me. I disagree with the OP. I've said so so many times my brain is hurting. And you've finally realised that that's what I've been saying for the last 10+ pages? That's awesome. So why the [expletive] did you jump into this thread attacking my caps'd statement to that effect? If your main argument was "solo ships shouldn't kill BS", then what the hell have you been yammering on about? Everyone else in the thread agreed on that weeks ago...

"I blame the please nerf it crowd ..."
Well, you decided to bump it out of sudden after it's been resting dead for two weeks... if you didn't, no one would remember it by now ^^
"The NOS or energy neutralizer is the best defense against the lone tackling frigate."
Yes, along with being the best defense against anything smaller than battleship/battlecruiser (while still being a good weapon against these largest ships) Which is pretty much the reason threads like this one are started...
"As you pointed out, without some sort of point defense, a frigate is entirely capable of taking out a BS. It may take a long time, it may take a T2 ship with T2 weapons and a mad setup, or possibly an incompetent pilot or poorly fitted BS, but it's entirely possible."
And this possibility of penalty for the pilot who tries to fly large ship without necessary skills to do so, or takes calculated risk at setting it one way and not the other... is bad for the game how, exactly?
And by the same token, how is the alternative of such pilot being entirely immune to such attack... improving the game, or making it balanced..?

Edited by: Beringe on 27/10/2005 22:43:29 If NOS are reworked, so that they won't drain as much from lower shipclasses, ECM needs to be reworked in a similar way.
Or perhaps, make ECM non-stackable when multiple ships are using them on a single ship?
The reason for this is that ECM in a frigate fleet tends to eliminate a lot of the firepower of a targeted battleship - including NOS. Take away that advantage, and I could see nosferatus being reworked.
EDIT: Although I also like the cap battery idea, for tacklers. That way, nosferatus can stay the same, but cap batteries get a renewed role. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

A thought occurs:
Another way to fix the tackler issue would be to introduce a scrambler that doesn't use cap.
Or those interdictor thingies, which I have no idea how are going to work. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

Edited by: tiller on 28/10/2005 05:17:17 I'm not gonna even bother reading all this thread. I hate to say it smacks of the old 'I got owned by a blahblahblah and I don't want it to happen again' syndrome :(
A NOS is never gonna kill you alone.... and if a NOS was the reason you got killed in the first place then you were to close.
Starting a thread about it won't undo your mistake....
omg, I just bumped it again

Why does this thread keep getting bumped?
NOS only affects one ship. If that ship is smaller, its ****ed. A large ship should always beat a smaller ship. Arguement over.
2 smaller ships is another matter.

I sort of agree.
As it is now, 2 small ships (T1 frigates, in fact) can shut down a BS indefinitely, unless it has an extreme amount of anti-frigate modules.
One frigate dampens, one scrambles. Nosferatus won't help, guns won't help...only smallish FoF's and drones will.
And those will only have a limited effect.
I don't think that's overpowered at all. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

Hi All,
The best way to counter a NOS is to Have one your self that was u basicly take the advantage away, If you don't liek carring NOS then well thats up to you. NOS = Win then emmmm fit one problem solved.

If you go attack a BS in your inty, that's your problem. I think the bs sized ones don't suck enough cap.

Originally by: Zyrla Bladestorm I used to think they definetely were overpowered vs smaller ships, I'm not so sure now.
Most likely I don't think they need anything major doing to them, but some sort of counter might be an idea, particularly if it could be made interesting and/or clever in some way.
Frigates are devastating enough as they are vs battleships, ittl be why theres HAC's going for higher prices than tier 2 BS, coz their mostly junk, pretty much everything has been nerfed.
If NOS did get nerfed (prolly will, devs have a habbit of caving in to the public) coudl someone please explain the point of flying a BS over a HAC, because seriously there wont be any.

Its always interesting when people go on to moan that if ship A carries weapon type 1 then ship B is no use and ship A is overpowered or its module is.
Honestly check the posts you see, if you mention drones, someones response is well id blow them away with smartbombs. Battling frigs/cruisers, they suddenly carry NOS as well, if their jammed, they mystically carry a rackload of launchers to battle off the evil jammer with FoF's, id like to see this fantastic ship that seemingly carries every module you need.
