Ok, here is my idea: during WWII when an enemy plane was flying toward you and you were shooting at it with your flack you didnĘt try to actually hit the plane. You would fire in front of it in the hopes that when you flack shell exploded at the predetermined height the plane would then be just about to fly into the cloud of flack that that had just appeared there.
OK, so in the world of EVE-Online when a missile is heading towards a little interceptor the missile as of right now tries to actually make contact with the ship and then detonate. This is all wrong.
I have made up a picture to show how I think things should beą

O well, i tried to get the pictuer to work. But anyway, all im trying to say is there needs to be a missile that is supposed to be shot at smaller ships that dose nothing to larger ships, that explodes in the path of the oncoming ship making it almost imposibal to out run the shock wave unless you turn around and run befor the missile ever gets close to you.

flak....missile....gravity....space....
the missiles arnt designed to detonate on impact, they are designed to detonate next to the target and damage using splash. this isnt battlefield 1942 so please keep your posts to yourself if you cant be bothered to read the patch notes and see THIS IS HOW MISSILES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!

Yuh never mind that proximity fuzes and the latter detonated in such a way to cause the MAXIMUM amount of damage to a target yet for some reason the missiles these days are causing the minimum amount of damage (even to battleship size targets).

There used to be splash damage with torps and other missiles but this was rightly removed since it made missile boats useless in empire

who cares ?
The mechanics are there to serve our needs, not the other way around.
CCP decided that this is the way it works, period.

i guess you dont know whats going on **** face, all i was saying was that it would be best to have a missile that was desined to hit smaller, faster ships by exploding a bit in front of the enemy ship, much like flack. If your so ******* stupid that you cant undestand that then maybe you should quit posting or at least research the topic you are about to post on. Ill bet you like the way missiles are now because you got your ass handed to you by them so much dip****.

You mean like... light missiles?

Look, wherever the missiles explode or what they do on impact is of no consequence whatsoever.
For all I care CCP has heavy missiles that are half the weight of light ones and cause pink clouds of gas to obscure the enemy's vision instead of hitting him as long as the balance is right.
CCP probably couldnt give a crap about what a missile would do in rl. It cares for the balance, and they fixed that well enough.
threads like these are utterly redundant unless you come up with arguments pertaining to balance.

Missile splash is a bad idea in EVE. It only takes someone to drop out of warp in your location after you have fired your missiles, and they pick up collateral damage. In empire space, that means you lose your ship to Concord through no fault of your own.

Missiles. Are. Fine.
In fact if anything they're overpowered--my megabeams hit frigs for 0 damage, and your torps hit them for 4 damage. NERF!!! -- Proud member of the [23].
Want your POS to make money? Call me up. I've designed POSs that make upwards of 50m a day. |

Cool, I disagree with your point immediately. EVE is NOT RL nor it has anything to do with WWII. --

It strikes me that the original post is requesting a feature already implemented by the Target Navigation Prediction skill.

missiles dont need to be any stronger.. a raven does such ridiculous damage to other battleships now how can anyone complain about torps? you want to be able to get 800 damage a hit with a torp against everything?? and u also never want to miss? and u want the torp to do 5km/s. i know why dont we all just fly ravens?
No thanks :P

Ah yes, back when torps had splash damage. You'd fire a torp in empire, some noob in a rookie ship would race over to the target and park himself right next to it, and your shiny Raven would receive a generous CONCORDOKKEN.
