We pod pilots always kill the ones we know best - the crews of the ships we fly. This is the great moral compromise facing any pilot who has principles or a cause.
For example, every day the Minmatar freedom fighters shoot down Amarrian vessels crewed by thousands of Minmatar slaves, who needless to say do not enjoy the luxury of clone insurance.
While I have no wish to take away from the importance of loyalty, I do find it very hard to take seriously the more extreme criticisms of pilots who choose different paths than their peers.

This is very true, and a sad consequence of our flight. The best thing we can hope to do is to lose as few ships as possible, to preserve as many of the hopeful, excited faces of our crew as possible - and to try to remember them after they're gone. ________________________________________________ Everyone has the right to be ignorant, if they should so choose. I don't have a crew. There's a reason my ships are pod fitted. Honestly though, I can't speak for anything larger than a frigate. And being a slave is as much of a choice as being an Amarr, Gallente, Caldari or Minmatar is. But this is going a bit offtopic. These times don't have traitors. podpilots are entities unto themselves. Shaped by what made them and driven by what they desire. Nobody can shake the influences that made them into what they are.

How is this possible? Do you have a special kind of ship that the rest of us have no access to?
Or (I believe this to be more likely) are you unaware of your crew? Many are, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Being a pod pilot often leads one to the sense of being alone in the ship, just the link between yourself and the electronics.
However, for your edification, I would like to point you here, where the crew is shown, and here, where it talks about the status of the Captain of a ship (implying the existence of the others).
Our ships do have crews. They may not have control of the ship, but they do exist. The fact that we are forgetting their existence is saddening to me, but it is a part of the exalted status we have achieved as capsuleers.

These were the infant steps of capsule technology.
" Stories are told of pod pilot heroes flying on the side of the Caldari during the twilight years of the Gallente-Caldari war, executing maneuvers unthinkable to those encumbered with a full crew complement and the bothersome necessity of using vocal commands and hand-eye coordination to steer their vessels."
I had to pay a bit extra, but my Rifters don't need crew.

Edited by: Dev Larren on 01/11/2005 22:36:17 How far off-course can a discussion go? It is like trying to follow the conscious streaming of a drunkard.
In any case to go back to the original topic of this thread: I have become aware in recent weeks through this discussion (when it started) and frequent requests from non-Caldari to join the Caldari Independent Navy Reserve (where we mantain a strict "Bloodline" rule) that there are many pod-pilots who were not born Caldari but have become Caldari through their choice of allegience and loyal service.
CAIN now seeks to give such Caldari a home:

I was born a pure Gallente, had a nice family life settled in a calm, prosperous and free Sinq Liasion.
TilĘ that faithful day of the Federation Navy Order 21A-UL9R-GI, from that coward bastard Admiral Gidardi: Withdrawing the Crilere defense without any notice or warning to the civilian public. The Caldari Navy was.. effective as usual, but the worst was the pirates that raided and raped everything afterwards. No Navy or Corp did nothing to prevent it...
Family - DEAD Friends - DEAD Relatives - DEAD Community - DEAD My home world - Enslaved and ruined
I was enslaved, sold, resold, freed, forced into contract and freed again. What ever, I lost all with nothing to live for. Worked for whomever, doing what ever it takes.
After all that, the GN had the nerve of declaring Sinq a safe haven again!! I spit on their weak politically influenced leaders!
I am my own man now Aiding all efforts in the rebuild of SinqL
frell them all
