I've been doing missions all day for an agent based from the headquarters of TransStellar Shipping, a Gallente aligned agent from a Gallente aligned corp, and while I have increased standing with the agent and increased security level with CONCORD due to a kill mission, I have NO standing whatsoever with the Gallente Federation, or the TransStellar Shipping corporation. As in, I look at my standing, and they don't even show up at all.
I've asked several people and they said that wasn't normal, I've done about 15 missions today, even though they were low level. But I've gotten no conclusive answer, so I'm asking here as a lost resort. ><

I dont know.....Maybe your not getting a standing increase with the gallente federation because the corp your doing missions for doesnt have a good standing for them? Try switching agents....maybe that will help.

You only get faction standing for important missions.

Important being what? I cleared pirates out of Gallente space, does that qualify as important?
I'm struggling here, I'm a Minmatar so I don't have any appointed Gallente contacts, but I really want to raise my standing with them.

You get a big boost when you get a storyline mission. You get these when you do like 30 missions for an agent..Wait, thats alittle to much, pro around 20 or so.

So if I do enough Gallente agent missions I will get Gallente story missions? Just so I'm sure.

I noticed when I switched to a new agent my standing didn't increase with him for a long time. By the time I went to him I had Connections 3. Is it possible that you don't see standing increases until you exceed the standing given to you by you your social skills?

No. Connections add to your standing. Is this agent a R&D agent? Because u won't get a standing increase from them.

For doing your standard missions you get a standing increase with the Corp your are doing them for. i.e. transteller...
Every 12-16 missions you do for this corp you will get offered an important/storyline mission from another corp. Completing these missions gets you big increases for the 'another corp' and your Race (i.e. gallente fed)
For every mission you refuse I believe it adds 2 to the queue before you get your next storyline mission.

For every *16* missions you do without rejecting one you get a storyline. Every one you reject or fail adds 2 to the queue.

Are you looking at the Effective Standing, or whatever it's called, when you have the agent window open or the agent's standing on your character info window?
The Effective Standing shows the highest number standing out of your Faction/Corp/Agent, whichever is highest. So if your corp or faction is higher, the agent's standing won't appear to increase even though it is.

No, the problem isn't that my agent standing is increasing, that actually is.
To recap again. I am not a gallente, I'm a minmatar sebiestor but I want to raise my standing with the gallente because the character wants to become a federation citizen. So since I didn't have any agents in gallente space refered to me I looked up the gallente corporations and went to TransStellar Shipping's headquarters, which is in the Doussivitte system, the station is called Doussivitte X - TransStellar Shipping Storage.
Here I found a level 1 agent named Rhovolle Odaelloles, an agent for TransStellar Shipping. His division is storage which suits me fine, I'm not much for heavy duty combat and mining, so I run cargo.
When I pull up my standings tab in my character sheet, under "Liked By" it says Minmatar Republic 1.05 under factions, it says Urban Management 0.27 under corporations, and it has my newbie agent's standing of 10.00, my matari storyline agent's standing of 1.72, and then Rhovolle Odaelloles' standing at 1.05.
Since I've done a lot of mission I'd expect TransStellar Shipping and the Gallente Federation to have a standing in there too. But they're not, and so now I'm horribly confused. The only social skill I have is one level of social. 
EDIT: And I have not done a storyline mission yet. I did do one small kill mission which raised my CONCORD security level a tiny bit.

Id say just keep at it and youll get an increase sooner or later. The only other reason I can think of is that its harder to get a standing increase with another race.
