Hey all. A few baselines: I'm a newbie. Old character, only about 2 months of experience. I run a very good system, and can run 4 accounts on 4 screens with 0 lag. I understand that solo carriers in low-sec = asking for it. EVERYONE has told me this...I get it.
Questions: 1. Since the Nyx is immune to EWAR, would it have a better chance of surviving our in low-sec alone with it's 20+ Fighters? 2. If I ran 4 accounts with 4 Nyx's I could basically do whatever the f*$k I want, right? I mean that's at least 80 drones....that HAS to be good, doesn't it???? 3. If my deep-seeded dream of being the best Droneboat pilot in the universe is shattered (:P), what would you suggest for soloing low-sec in 1-2 ships? 4. If your only goal was to make isk, and you could play 2-4 characters at the same time, what would you do? -edit- I currently have enough isk to pay for 1 month of game time on 4 accounts, but not enough to buy characters on those accounts, so this can be short or long term, but I'll need an explanation on how to implement it.
Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. |

You can keep chasing this dream, just so long as you're aware that The Best Droneboat Pilot In The Universe will need friends.

This may delay the inevitable, but it also increases the attractiveness of the target.
You do know that capital ships can't use jump gates, right?

Yeah...friends.... Just that I only know like 2 people who play, they have their own gig going and play at different times than me...
Not sure how to approach others in this game...seems like if you say "Hi" to people, they either shoot you or look at you like they're expecting you to steal their puppy.... |

Yeah that's bad... O_o Ok, dreams shattered...how about question 4 though? If I can't be the Dronegod, how do I make good isk or otherwise use my multiple setup to advantage?
I tried mining...2 covetors + an orca, only made about 15m/ hour...makes me sad >.< |

Train your four accounts into doing PI for a good passive income. Then rat between pvp fights.

If i'm not wrong 4 fully fitted nyxes would cost you about 80 billion isk ( and it may be more , i can't remember if a SC is 20 bil for the hull or for the hull+fit) not to mention it would take you about 1 and a half year to train a char from ground up into a SC ( assuming you don't train for anything else.) you would also need a 5 th alt for cyno and probably even more for other things like scouting , scanning , ect.. , oh and everyone will want you dead.
So i think you should drop that idea.
If you want good isk you could blitz lv4's , run incursions , or get into a large null alliance an run sites. There are other things of course , these are just the first few things that come to mind. |

You can set up Dominixes or Rattlesnakes into Remote Repair and Capacitor Transfer setups.
A friend of mine used to run level 5 missions with such a setup (two Domis) and just bulldozed his way through. The ships were also PvP fit (minus the remote reps in the high slots) which gave him the ability to fend off the occasional hostile. I should also add that said friend was an experienced PvPer who knew how people "hunted" because he was a "hunter" himself. If you wish to PvE in hostile places then learn PvP from more experienced people. It will help you learn and know how to safeguard your activities and know the strengths and limitations of most ships and tactics. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

the price of a nyx should crush your dreams alone.
so you are gonna put atleast 35b for a good nyx fit +hull, *4 =140b and lets say no one will ever attack you. are you gonna do anomalies or belt rat or? even if you would get 40mil tiks (because of lowsec and ****** anomalies and belt rats) thats 120mil per hour, if you played 4hours every day, for a year, you would not get back that kind of isk. also it would cost you, what? 2800Gé¼? |

people will be trying to kill you hard enough in this game without you having a nyx. With a nyx, you will literally have a thousand people drop whatever they were doing and come kill you. And being immune to ewar won't help very much. Are you familiar with the term "batphone?" Some first-hand PI tips |

As much as the suggestion of four multiboxing supercarriers is.. naive, Your heavy interdictor is not invulnerable. How would you feel about a game of can you escape before a set of two battlecruisers that cost half as much leave it a small wreck on a gate. |

Hey more power to you... shoot for the stars in this game and dream big.
Sadly the road to a single supercap much less 4 of them is paved with untold amounts of ISK, cyno alts, jump fuel farming, bad mistakes, scams, mountains of knowledge and serious businesses the likes of which you've never seen.
By the time you get one you will see how silly it would be to take out a single supercap for the purposes you've got in mind.

I tried mining...2 covetors + an orca, only made about 15m/ hour...makes me sad >.< It will take time to get the skills needed for a decent income. I have 4 accounts, and can make good isk with them, but two of my accounts are well over 40 mil SP the other two are about 36 mil and 25 mil. Mining with 3 HULKs and an ORCA I make about 100M per hour. Running a combat fleet I can also make about 100M per hour but it can get harry trying to balance 4 accounts in low if you end up in a PVP situation.
Your dream of flying 4 Nyx is possible, but for proper skills to really do more than just sit in those ships you are looking at years of skill training. A group of 4 nyx spider tanking could hold out against a very large fleet, but in low sec once a few players see you it will not take long for a very large fleet to show up. If you could manage the multiboxing and spider tanking well, the battle would be epic, but ultimately you would end up losing all 4 nyx. As someone else already said, players will travel from 20 jumps away to get on a nyx kill mail, even more so if there were 4 nyx. Not to mention that unless you can make a billion isk a day, or are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on PLEX to sell you will be years getting those 4 nyx, only to lose them in the first big battle if you do not have friends to help protect them. I have seen battles in null where fleets of 50-100 capital ships are dropped into the battle, A team of 4 nyx could attract such a fleet if they are bored.
Not sure what a Nyx is worth right now but I think it is around 25 billion isk to buy. Even if you can get the mats and BPO/BPC you need together to build one you still need a well defended Sov system with the right upgrades to build supers. Even if you have access to a capital ship yard you are still looking at at least 20 bil to build one.
You can not buy them on the market, or even off contracts as they can not be docked in stations. you can buy one from a friend or through the buy/sell forums, or be in an alliance that can build you one. None of these options would work well for a solo player. Chances are even the players willing to sell you a nyx would be interested in killing you in it after you have paid for it. |

What will happen is this: As soon as you are scouted local intel channels of all the entities far and wide will light up that 4 nyx's without any form of back-up are there. If the corps/alliances in question do not have the fire/manpower to take that out they will batphone everyone and start calling for as many hic pilots as possible while cyno alts are logged in and brought into position, a subcap fleet positioned on their titan ready to bridge.
If said entity does not have any friends with supers they will simply contact a PL diplomat, and they will most likely gladly provide the firepower needed. Withing 30 minutes of being spotted a cyno will be lit next to you, all 4 nyxes will be tackled by HIC's and a couple dozen supercarriers + subcap fleet will be dropped on you, shortly there-after your nyx's will be dead.
You have to understand that people will go to extremes to get super kills, if your mom knew what a super capital was she'd want to be on a KM of one. |
