So we've had a nice little thread running over at eveger.de where I proposed some minor tweaks to hangars and item management, which I'd like to post here to get some official attention.
- add the option to pin items to their respective hangar/container (for future clarification: whenever I say hangar, I mean any space that can contain items), so that when you sort the hangar, the items get put at the very top of your items, regardless of what their 'actual' position in the list would be, and that when you select all items and then drag them out of the hangar, they pinned items stay.
That would enable easier, and more intelligent item management in quite a lot of situations, for example:
- pin the current fleet doctrine ships to your ship hangar, and you dont have to scroll through all your ships, because the fleet doctrines are already at the very top of the hangar
- pin your ammo, drugs and cap boosters to your ship's cargo, so when you scoop loot it doesnt get mixed with the important items in your cargo, and you can more easily drop stuff not needed because, unless you unpin ammo, boosters and drugs, they will stay in their cargo
- pin the skill you want to train to the top of your personal hangar and you will see him whenever you open up your personal hangar, and therefore are less likely to ever forget that's its there.
- Add personal hangar compartments that you can rent, similar to corp offices; the pricing could be managed similarly to corp offices, based on supply and demand; with discounts for high standings or an already existing corp office (as a bonus to entities settling down as opposed to be nomading all over the place). Yes, that's an ISK sink, and we all know, we love them! ;)
You might want to have a max amount of compartments per character, and I dont think you should add the possibility to rent additional compartments for corp hangars.
- Add the possibility to put notes to items/item stacks, that would be indicated with a little 'note' icon in the item's icon, similarly to tech level or slot. The notes could be saved server side and available to the character that added them (and disappear the moment the item leaves the player's property); it might be a possibility to have them for the corp hangars too. The note should be readable when you mouse over an item stack. The allows hangar sorting at two depths (several compartments>containers instead of just containers) and provides the hangar functions to the compartments, aka stacking, repairing etc. Example usage includes:
- MINE on that veldspar stack in corp hangar
- MWD offline! on that Fleet Stabber where you need the powergrid implant so you dont accidentally undock it without using the proper clone and onlining the MWD
- The whole package/unpackage mechanic is bullshit and rather inconsistent - NPCs drop repackaged modules, players drop unpackaged - perhaps make undamaged modules drop packaged, because there is no difference to them apart from the ability to be stacked at will, and you would also be able to easily see if items are damaged or not
- add an icon to represent an item's state of repair, or even just showing damaged or not.
- FaulEnza N00bist added: Increase the number of item stacks per container/contract, which is sometimes quite a pain in the ass
- He also added the ability to stack BPCs with same ME/PE levels

Some valid points that would aid those with massive amounts of items (especially things you can't name), but there are tricks you can do, such giving containers and ships names that can be sorted using the UI, special chars such as + - # ~ will force the auto sort to move these to the top of the list.
+1 for the ideas |

Daily bump
May i hijack this thread for another (personal) concern: "All sort of containers are not reprocessable - WHY?" Container are T1 product witch contains only basic materials (minerals), so the normal thinking human being relies on the abillity to reprocess these items. |

used to be NPC seeded ... I have stacks of them all over the place from living in different areas ... would get "free" minerals that way. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia Malcanis for CSM8 |

Yes, why not, who cares? I also have uncounted numbers of containers around EVE universe (High, Low and 0.0). Many of them (Station Warehouse) was build with my own material - such as tons of stuff i can reprocess to sell the minerals, except these containers.
PS: as obvious as it shows, english is not my native language |
