Edited by: Sethon on 23/08/2005 23:13:23 Ok, lets get this straight.
Did I try to give you an option to get out of it despite the contract because I felt bad for you?
Yes.
Did I try to make ISK on the deal?
Yes. Why the hell not.
Did I go against the contract?
No.
The terms still included me fullfilling the contract requirements. And I will continue to do so.
If you guys had half the strength in-game to fight as you seemingly have with keystrokes, maybe it would go better.
Take it in-game. Now that you have made it a personal attack rather than buisness, we will pick up the tab and war you as long as it takes. I'm thinking at least 5-6 months. You said your "defenses" would be ready by then? I hope so, maybe you can take the war in-game rather than the boards.
Appologies to anyone who is offended, but get it off the forums and in the ships guys.
p.s- I'm waiting for the board to receive "Lock" status, so I can spend more time in-game then worrying about the out-of-game war....the only war you are capable of fighting sadly.

Although I wouldn't normally post to a circuitous thread like this, I do feel inclined to say a few things.
First, as Co-CEO of ALMPC, we officially acknowledge your intentions of aggression and war. However, do not assume that this war will be fought according to your expectations. Furthermore, all non-combatants have been moved out of our headquartered territory. Although our desire to create a security division was not currently slated, you have obviously pressed the issue to the extent that we will defend ourselves.
Second, as a player, and a player who has experienced several different leading MMO's, I understand that this is business to you. But perhaps you should re-examine your criteria for taking a contract. Declaring war and attacking a corporation of neutral miners based on one individual's vendetta is, at best, in poor taste. At worst it reflects the pubescent bloodlust for which pvp games are getting their name.
By declaring a contract on such a corporation also reflects the current state of affairs in MMO's -- pvpers vs. carebears and all that crap. Just understand that some people don't want to play the same game as you. And don't assume by saying that, that I am advocating the removal of pvp -- on the contrary, I think it serves a very legitimate and interesting function. I just wish that ALMPC was not the target of your employer.
ALMPC has strived to be fair, conscientious, and considerate in their dealings with others and other corporations. Sadly, like so many other corporations, we have had a few experiences with difficult players. We take that in stride -- it's the way of business, and indeed, life. The problem though is that these individuals, although they may feel justified in their retribution, are punishing an entire corporation, not just the one or two members with whom they are unhappy.
I want to thank you, Sethon, for you "gentlemanly" approach to warfare. I appreciate that you announced your intentions.
Benilopax, my Co_CEO, is currently on holiday. He will be returning shorlty. I am available for discussion or comment at almost anytime. Feel free to Evemail.
Thank you, Kern Sybal

I find it amusing how Sethon first claims he's happy to 'get paid' for not having to fight, and then he goes on to basically beg his targets to undock and defend themselves.
The general tone of his posts leads me to believe he's more of a kill starved pvp wannabe, then a true merc. But looking at his employment history, that's not much of a surprise...

Hello I am CEO of Crimson Legion Industries and I would like to say that Sethon has declared war on our corporation also for very poor reasons. We are also a defense less industrial corporation that Sethon declared war on without even a mention to us before declaring war. All of a sudden a war declaration came up on my eve mail. Their reason for declaring war on us is because we would not accept Sethon in our corporation but his employment history points towards being a corp thief. We ended up joining an alliance to defend ourselves and now this four man corp is trying to declare war on our entire approx 140 member alliance.

Many 'aspiring' pirate corps have started trying to hide behind the banner of being mercenaries for various reasons to dull the true nature of their attack. The reasoning behind the war dec is irrelevant in either case, if you are declared on your main goal should be to either a) fight off your enemies to the best of your abilities or b) find a way to end the war quickly and efficiently, usually through isk.
Sethon tried to join my corp as well after we beat up his old alliance, I wonder when I'll get a war dec.

A merc gets payed to satisfy his client not to whine about its target .
If your target refuses to fight well , its their right and perheaps their way of defending them , if you want a killmail so eagerly be smarter and faster and you will get to it .
EvE has teh tools for it just learn how to use em _________________

So... you get paid to attack their corp, then you offer them a cease-fire (presumably for cash).
So you basically are screwing your employer over by taking his cash then making peace with your targets.
Either that or their was no employer in the first place and you figured easy isk by faking a contract with a mining corp then settling to end the war.
Which one is it?

Ive seen and heard alot of this lately small "merc" corps declaring war on larger mining/production corps claiming they have been hired to kill them, then asking for x amount of isk for the war to end.
Then once the war is over (usually because they refuse to pay) they straight away declare war on another mining corp.
Its just a lame way of them trying to make isk, they could at least be up front and say we havent been paid to do this we just want isk off you

I have to agree with some of the posters on this topic, you must satisfy your clients needs at all costs, anything else is a bonus. Sometimes the client offers a buy out clause, which the merc corp can offer if they feel continuing the war will be less beneficial, I would hope that most of the isk goes to the employer tho.
My advice to Sethon would be to carry out the contract to the best of his ability, remain neutral to everyone else, and make sure the employer is happy. If you can't get any kills, don't worry, you will have prevented them making isk, which is damage in itself.

I'm a member of the corp ALMPC, the one that's being targeted here. I just wanted to say, I REALLY REALLY hope that your emploer sees this thread and sees that you are trying to avoid the war and get out of having to hang around and shoot at us. I'm presuming that your employer wanted you to make our lives hell like that, and for him/her/them to see that you're backing out, surely that would not be a well noted point in their good books? Sethon & friends, you appear to me to be digging your own graves in this forum and in-game. Good luck getting out of this mess!

Originally by: Kodos Dash Ripcock can explain the name chosen, but I am pleased it stands out. I wish the best of luck to the original poster, if either of the sides need help, give us a bell, we do exactly what we are paid to do .
Basically the name stems from a Japanese manga comic that chronicles a small robotic girl called 'Alita' who takes part in futuristic gladiatorial style combat. She has a cybernetic body, but the brain of a young child. I've actually never had the chance to read the manga in depth, but my interest was perked when I heard it was James Cameron's next venture in the world of feature film (expected release date is 2007). I also thought it sounded rather neat, the thought of heavenly powers who like getting their hands dirty in acts of wanton bloodshed.
Back to EVE, Battle Angels Inc is a medium-sized professional mercenary corporation. What do I mean about the latter? I mean we pursue a contract to completion that is laid out in discussions with the client, and we respect the needs of the client at all times. We assume no political standing and we hold no grudges - we're basically guns for hire to the biggest bidder, but we treat our profession with respect. That's the reason why you can expect routine updates during the contract, as well as the ability to watch the conflict take place through one of the most precise and feature-packed killboards around.

agreed, like iv said before, i very much doubt even half these so called merc corps have even been hired by anyone... and contracts shall prob be self issued.
d solo.
Want a list of corps that have done exactly that?
We have fought for many corporations who have this problem. Its what made me stop being a carebear in the first place.
We were already talking with Crimson Legion about them joining, and lucky for us, once they came over so did the declaration.
