Well i recently saw this movie, and i must say i liked it a lot.
Checked the reviews and all were pretty bad , was quite surprised.
Weird, its a very nice action sci -fi movie.
Maybe critics wanted some ambitious depth in it , well imho its the worse thing one can do , fill an action easy fun movie with pseudo depth philosophy and problems.Make want to puke if I see it.
So i liked the movie a lot , waht are your opinonins?

Loved the movie too , excellent 'epic' sci-fi action-romp with a lead character thats a friggin' bad-ass! 
Sequel coming in a few years I hear, after Vin has done his 'Hannibal' flick.

Read sowmhere there was something like part 0 called "pitch black".Maybe will look for it...

Yeah Pitch Black was the original, got it on dvd.
Good film, havent actually seen chronicles yet.

yeah Pitch Black was done in 2000 and Chronicles is a sequel to it, but they're two very different movies. PB is more of a sci-fi horror flick.
And I meant there's going to be a "Chronicles ... 2" and eventually a 3 aswell. cant really say they're going to be about without spoiling so i wont, but it can be looked up

there's also the anime short story Chronicles of Rid****: Dark Fury that is set just after pitch black and inbetween it and chronicles.
and ofc the xbox/pc game that's set before Pitch Black  (which rocked btw)

That animated thing was a bag of crap.
Pitch Black was more a prequel to Chronicles. The scope of Chronicles is much bigger.

Ummm, Pitch Black was made 4-5 years before Chronicles and is set before it, so I guess yes, it would be a prequel
As for sequels to Chronicle - not sure if they will ever get made as Chronicle tanked at the box office. They did get Vin signed up for 2 more tho...

Both the original Pitch Black and the sequel Chronicles of Rid**** were awesome. I dont just say that because Vin was exceptionally hot in them either

If pitch black was the prequel to Chronicles..... does that not make Chronicles sequel to pitch black, despite the fact it was set much later?
(First 2 terminator films were set about 10 years apart if memory servers)?

I always thought Pitch Black was set after Chronicles, and Chronicles was a prequel.
And the ending to Pitch Black was the cheesiest crap I've had to endure in recent times. Goon does not approve.
Yet to see Chronicles however.

I liked Chronicles.
Only scene I hated was when Kira died. I was hoping to see her in a follow-up.
Also, I wanted to see Rid**** fight Vago.
Finally, they never really fleshed out the Lord Marshal, how he got his powers and all. They said he had been to the Underverse, I just would have liked to see a short flashback scene about it so him running around like the flash didn't seem so hokey.

wow, this is the only place i've ever seen praise for chronicles of rid****.
i didn't like chronicles of rid****. bringing in all that mysticism really ruined it for me. rid**** is now supposed to be a furion with the usual 'chosen one' stuff thrown. overall the story was pretty weak with plot holes galore. they turned the rid**** franchise from a sci-fi one to a sci-fi/fantasy one. pitch black as a standalone movie is an awesome movie tho.

I saw it.
The movie had all the pontetial to be cheesy, but it wasn't.
I thought it was great!
P.S. Pitch Black was good, but I really like Claudia Black
I'm glad she's on StarGate SG1 now, she's hot, sexy, very doable...

I thought it was utterly horrendus, it was possibly one of the worst films i've ever seen. I couldn't sit through more than the first 30 minutes, it didn't seem to have a narrative

Well, Pitch Black took place on a frontier planet, so none of the rest of the universe was shown. Chronicles takes place in a more central area where the core worlds are, and as such is quite a bit different than PB.
Personally, I can't wait for the second and third parts, if they get made. CoR put a damn neat mythology around the world that PB introduced.
One thing, as I was watching CoR, I couldn't help but think of the Necromongers as Amarr. In fact the whole movie had a very EVE-ish feel to it, with the crazy details everywhere you looked.

I am going to gave to disagree the original movie never introduced that rid**** was a different species of human nor did it have the supernatural feel 'CoR the Lady in White that can pass trough walls'pfft.
It was a rather simple story if anything it had a more 'Alien' movie feel than what it became in CoR.
In fact CoR had a huge budget lots of special effects while PB was a small budget I think Australian movie made before Diesel was even a star.
In fact to the original fans of PB the CoR was a dissapointment and it probobly received poor ratings beacuse the critics would have watched the original.And If you have watched the orginal I seriously dont see how a person wouldnt be 'what the **** is that' and 'huh?' when watching CoR.
On the other hand if u've watched CoR without PB than you are blisfully ignorant and I recommend you stay that way.This is one of those life disapointments otherwise.

I liked PB, but was less (much less actually) impressed with CoR.
Latter movie looked to me to have been made to the utter glorification of Vin Diesel... perhaps the lasses are into that not me.
Where Rid**** in PB at least appeared to be human (only with the special eyes) he suddenly develops superhuman powers in CoD and is in fact one of the last of his race... ohnoes, what a coinkidinky.

I think you need to whatch PB again, he was not anymore powerful in the second one.
In PB hes was fast, strong, stealthy and had great senses in CoR hes was the same.
In PB he was up against creatures that were better than most of the bad guys in the second one (that he had never seen before, don't forget he figured out how to kill them by checking out a skull).
In CoR he was upgainst humans only one of which had anything really special about him.
You may guess I really liked both movies

Forget Samuel L. Jackson, Vin Diesel is one movie guy that would REALLY dig EVE.
I mean, Vin wrote the foreward of the book '25 Years of D&D'. He's a damned ubergeek.

Heh, I meant it more in the sense of which was the larger story.
It's like saying that The Lord of the Rings was simply a sequel to The Hobbit. Pitch Black was simply a setup for a larger story.

I liked pitch black.. saw chronicles of rid**** got hyped a lot, got bad reviews.. then i rented the dvd and I thought it was pretty good.
Could have been really suck, but it wasn't. Only thing I didn't like is the main evil dude wasn't convincing enough.

Pitch Black was a breath of fresh air when it was released ... No big name actors, pretty decent effects, and some stunning visuals.
Chronicles of Rid**** was a good film, but felt it tried to do too much, still, also sported some truly stunning visual scenes and attention to detail ( costumes and art design etc ).
The main theme music used in both films aint bad either though.

I liked both, they weren't fantastic or anything but they were entertaining and not too cheesy. The whole "chosen one" concept is getting a little out of hand, but I can't fault these two movies for that too much since they were made years ago before the trend got to be too much.
