So before Incursion we couldn't make a name with three words. Now we can.
I don't have any characters that are supposed to have more than three names but say your char name is First Commander'Riker and he obvioulsy created it before incursion. If he were to open a petition and ask for the apostrophe between "Commander" and "Riker", would it be possible (not asking if it would be allowed, only possible) for his request to be accepted?
I mean we all got a chance to update our portraits more than one, so don't know why we didn't got the chance to adapt our names to the new system.

There is already a construtive thread about name changing here.
There's plenty of good reasons why people would like a change and there would be no ''evasion'' if properly implemented.

Nope, didn't wanted it. Actually its another guy on my alliance. My name is Renan Ruivo and has been since before my birth, i have no idea why people use names that are not their actual names...

I tried to open a petition one year ago, to change my char name. No Go.
As I said before, I'm ready to pay any amount of Dollar/AUR/ISK to have my name changed.
Also, to avoid scam, CCP shoud create a tab in our ingame info with our previous names or something like that. |

On a more serious note:
Character trading. Personally I think it is not a good thing anyway. But at least the character should keep his birth name.
And if that happens to be xXFatfartXx you should not be able to change it to Julio Antonio Coimbra.
You buy a character, you buy his history. And if someone pew-pews you because "you" have done him wrong in the past, you see it is better to skill up your own char.
Same goes for spies. |

Yes and this is the reason, i think, why nobody got a free-name-change token. Should be a case-by-case thing. Removing an apostrophe from a three word name is one thing, changing the entire name is another.

Personally I would be fine with minor "cosmetic" changes - changing letter case, or the mentioned apostrophe to space. As long as the CCP system is able to cope with it, in regard to e.g. links in character bios.
Changing your name to the point when it is not blatantly obvious that it is the same character? No thanks, for the reasons listed above. |
