I havnt seen many threads on battlecruisers. Someone in my guild said they were no good, is this true or are they actually good. I was thinking of getting a Prophecy and im not sure if its worth it. If you have a battlecruiser post your setup also

Did you say "Guild"? - I guess you mean Corp, but play some of those god awful games I don't care to mention.
Anyway, Battlecruisers aren't as good as they could be, though I hear some people have reasonable results in them. Myself, I steer clear of them.

Prophecy is a great ship imo. However depending on your skill set a Ferox is also very good and has a more flexible setup due to more mid slots. The Prophecy can tank very well and so can the ferox.
my setup is as follows
Fleet PvP: 5 Heavy Pulse II or (4 Heavy beam II ) 2 small nosferatu II 1 sensor booster 1 20km warp disruptor 1 tech II 10MN AB 2 Nano Adaptive Membrane II (those 20% to all passives) 2 Heatink II 1 Capacitor Power Relay I (or an additional heatsink if you want) 1 Medium Armor Repairer II

It's all personal preference. just like all ships, certain ones are more inclined to certain roles and situations.
what one person says sucks another person might say rocks.
tactics, setups, battle situations all play a part in it.
You mention prophecy.
I have to say I luv my current prophecy and I think it is one the most fun ships currently ingame. ESPECIALLY for the cost of it.
couple draw backs to it ..... cap recharge is a problem.
lack of speed and agility. (it's not ment to get in fast and tackle) and it's not ment to get out fast either.
Not sure your skill lvls and not trying to be insulting in any way but my alt that pilots it is amarr specific lasers only and has many many many lvl 5 skills to give it the power it needs.
6 heavy pulse T2's/arbalest heavy launcher 3 x eutectic cap rechargers 2xT2 armor repairers/1 RCU T2/3x energized adaptive nano 2 platings
that's a basic NPC setup.
For non T2 items in high slots you will want best named guns and launcher available as they use the least ammount of power to fit.
does way way more damage than a sac could dream of with 6 guns and one heavy launcher.
at lvl 4 BC skill has very high resistances for all damage types(not quite sac resis's but comparable to zealot resis's)think 62% is lowest value(then 66, 69, 80)
The dual armor repairers will allow you to engage some BS spawns but running both will exhaust your cap capacity.
3 eutectics is a must to have any chance of running both repeaires for any length of time. (no way will it fit T2 rechargers in that setup)
requires high lvl 5 engineering skills and also need adv weapon upgrades 4 to fit that setup. Adv weapon upgrades is what allows it to fit. Definitely the determining factor in that setup.
CPU not a problem, grid is tight. I come in at 1722 of 1725 available.
When it gets really deadly is when the spawn surronds the slow moving snail of a ship and starts orbiting it. Combine your high slot offense with 5 medium explosive based or kinetic based damage drones.
If you use explo drones ...... use kinetic heavy missles. if using kinetic drones ..... use explosive missles.
The lasers take care of all your EM/thermal damage needed. the explo/kinetic combo just fills in the gap more for damage "type" over the amount of damage they do.
Capable of a pretty serious offense inside of 20km with 6 heavy pulse 2's, explosive heavy missle with support skills all at 4 and heavy at 5, plus 5 medium drones.
yep I definitely like the prophecy.

Ferox and prophecy are okay, but just okay. Brutix and cyclone are in serious need of improvment, and they all need a slight speed and agililty increase. cruisers got one but bc didn't, and are almost the same speed as a bs.

I have a Cyclone, and have not yet had the luxury of piloting the other mentioned above, but I can tell you that I rather enjoy this ship. Maybe itĘs because I donĘt know how nice the others really are. I knock out 4/10 complexes on a regular basis without breaking a sweatąquite frankly, the 4/10Ęs have almost gotten to be boring because they go down soooo easy. I have mine set up as a shield tank, because this ship gets a bonus on shield boosting. My setup is as follows:
Highs
5 x 650 ęScoutĘ Artils 3 x Arbalest Heavy Launchers
Mids
1 x t2 10MN AB 1 x Heat Dissipation Field 2 1 x Photon Scattering Field 2 1 x t2 Large Shield Booster
Lows
3 x t2 Power Diagnostic System 1 x Auto Gain Control Tracking Enhancer
The Cyclone is the only BC that gives you 8 high slots, so it can deal out pretty decent damage and gives you the most flexibility on damage type, but IĘm sure the other BCĘs tank better. With the 650Ęs I can hit my targets fairly hard anywhere between 15k & 40k. Inside of 15k, 3 missile launchers and drones seem to be effective.
Just remember though, PvP may be another story all together.

All suck in my book:
- Take proph - extra gun is 20% of damage over maller. Meds, lows = SAME. Bonuses same. Proph has a bit more gid, but with extra gun fitted its not much. Cap close. Yet, maller sig twice smaller! Agility, locking time better. Price and loss after insurance is 1/3d of a proph. Question - what so good, twice of armor? Pointless in a world of gang, plus big sig = more hits.
- Take brutix vs only thorax drone bay. Ok ok, forget drone bays, brutix goes with mwd slower then thorax, thorax with mwd has same cap as brutix. Again twice less sig, third of a price. For what? + 2 guns which you strugle to fit?
- Cyclone, ferox, yes ther are a bit bit better then appropriate cruiser, ok, but they have a lot of disadvantages for that and 3 times of a price, so you dont actually get anything better.
Not like BC is worse ships then cruisers, but their disadvantages lie in the areas there you can't allow any - sig, firepower, agility, price for nothing.

The problem with this comparison is that there really isn't a Caldari standard cruiser that's similar to the Ferox like the Maller is similar to the Prophecy. The Ferox really is superior to the other Caldari cruisers, whereas the other BCs really have trouble distinguishing themselves from the pack.

Ferox vs Moa
- +1med
- +1 gun
- bonus to resists instead of boosting
I wont say its such a huge gap.

Ok warning to all..................
WHAT FOLLOWS IS A NOOBS OPINION so dont read it if your above such stuff
As someone new to this game it seems to me that the BC is somewhat of an afterthought for all races. As someone new to this game I figured it was closer to the power of a BS than I did the cruiser that it IS closest to. They are three times the price yet they dont appear to be even twice as powerful. Granted I am still learning both the game and the ships, but from the outside the class (and I fly one) needs some help.

Ferox vs. Caracal
- missile bonuses + 2 low slots + 1 mid slot + tank made of something other than newspaper
The Ferox is unique amongst battlecruisers in that it is the best of both of that race's combat cruisers combined.

That pritty much sums it up. They, along with destroyers, don't really fit in. In general frigs have enough speed to fight cruisers in a small group, but because of there size destroyers can't even come close to a decent pvp cruiser. Battlecruisers can take on cruisers because of increased damage and tankage, but they don't have the tankage to fight bs, or the speed to evade them. With a full gank kit the proph and brutix can do enough damage to break a bs, but they will get eaten alive before they can by anything except a sniper or fleet setup.

BCs and Destoryers came after the other ships do they would seem to be an afterthought. However, this is a misconception about the DEV's idea of ship classes. Not all ships were meant to be 1 on 1 or 10 on 10 ships. Some are meant to be able to put reletively newer players > 3mil SP into a large clase so they can drive or support a small tactical fleet. Just because many people do not do this doesn't mean the ship's are gimp or unbalanced. It is the player base that are vocal or active that do not pay any mind to the vision of the DEVs.

The Brutix can pwn some serious poo if it's fitted properly.
High: (x7) 250mm Railgun II Med: (x2) Sensor Booster II (x1) Target Painter II (Or Sensor Booster II) ((Or Even Webber if so desired)) (x1) 20km Scrammie Low: (x2) RCU II (x3) Magnetic Field Stab II
I used this setup before and it will pwn all inties in one shot. I have not used it in pvp much however but i would imagine it could toast another battlecruiser fairly fast.
You need some RCU's to fit the 7 guns.. i havenmt used the ship for a bit so i might be wrong with two RCU II needed but im like 85% sure that gave me the grid.
Thnx

Enemy hits your harder, you have limited range, and with med guns you will still strugle against small targets.
And it costs you extra skill to train and 3 (three) times of isk to buy or lose one. Maybe its good for pve then you dont have bs, but have spare isk for ship you wont lose. But for real action... Duno.

you dont normaly get hac and go into pvp, you first go into pvp, and then get hac (or any other expensive ship). Cruisers are good way to learn. BC's are pretty much heavier cruisers (actually Cyclone is lighter than any caldari cruiser). Plus BC is a very nice way to run lvl3 missions. Plus BC skill is not racical, so it doesnt really take more than a few days to get lvl4 and fly any BC out there (assuming you have racical cruiser skill lvl3). ____ When flying by Concord Customs Commander's Dominix I distinctly heard him saying "... world domination..." |

actually you seem to be missing a point. Sig radius means jack**** when you fight close range, and with MWD you can get there pretty fast. And despite to what you may think this baby turns much faster than standard rax or rupture setup. And lots more hp will give you much safer feeling when fitting t2 guns, which again means more damage. Cap? Who cares about cap when you dont use it to tank? The whole point of this setup is cap independancy. Small targets - yes, but then again this setup doesnt have scrambler, so you wouldnt go alone in it anyway. And PvE... dude, get a clue - who the feck fits close range for pve? ____ When flying by Concord Customs Commander's Dominix I distinctly heard him saying "... world domination..." |

K, whats you dps on that thing and what is your range? Cruise numbers, not even close to bs.
Twice of sig means A LOT, you are not raven pilot, rnt you? You got locked faster, you got hit harder by anything. For pve it doesnt matter though at all.
Cost is 3 times. Thats all. It doesn worth 3 times of isk to lose.

Range is 10km with falloff easily. Dps with t1 guns alone should be 140+. Put 3 light missles and 7 medium drones on top of it and you got yourself a little monster. But you right, it is still a cruiser... THATS THE WHOLE FECKING POINT!
The rest of your comment is pretty much a joke. HP _is_ important otherwise plated setups wouldnt be so damn popular these days. Sig is _not_ important, because gank BS will hit even lil intie from far away and always miss another BS orbiting it at 5km (caldari BS dont count :)), and lock time difference is next to nothing if you going against a few sensor boosters. And not Cyclone is _not_ slow and sluggish. It turns like tier1 cruiser and goes 1.5km/sec with mwd. Yes, its a cruiser in every aspect... just better
You tryin to prove that my setup sucks, while obviously lacking basic knowledge about it and pvp in general. i'm going to curl into a small ball and cry myself to sleep now...
edit: more on-topic, Ferox makes a pretty nice tank+damage mini-Raven. ballistics in all lows, tank with extender in mids, launchers in highs... outdamages the Caracal but quite a bit and comes with ~5k shield with resists of 55+
