Hello folks, Well there I was doing some missions as per usual, and I started to notice that my mouse mat is getting a little old, it struck me that if it was possible I would buy a new one from the store, what do you guys think? I know its possible to print your own, however I dont have that option, id love to have on my desk some high quality eye candy.. Or if you like to be boring, a good quality plain black/blue one (that will last) and just the EVE logo,
Surly you could whip some up eh?

I picked up a pretty neat space-themed mousepad from CafePress about 3 years ago by Greg Martin, but they don't seem to offer it anymore. Dang. An EVE one wouldn't be a bad replacement. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Greg Martin does some unbelievable things with Photoshop. He has a website kicking around where you can view all sorts of stuff he's done, and there's some excellent tutorials for doing things like starfields and planets, using just Photoshop.

Want to know what the best mouse mat in the world is? None stick baking paper. No ****. It's none stick so your optical mouse smoothly glides right over it. It's cheap to buy and can be obtained from pretty much any store. You can shape it to whatever size you want. In fact just cover your whole table. When it gets dirty or starts going crinkly from where your palm rubs it just throw it away and get out a fresh sheet. The only probs you may have is it needs to be taped down so it doesnt move, it's an ugly brown colour and I don't know how it works with mouseball (but no self respecting geek would still have a mouseball mouse). Works just as well as that 30 quid mat Joshua pointed out.

Good idea, however not very pretty to look at... Your right though, I think youd be hard pressed to find a hard core gamer without his optical mouse.. hehe ú30 for a mouse mat?... Thats abit extreme isnt it?.. I guess you could be paying for quality, but how much quality do you really need?

i got a giganta that i dont like very much due to he fact that it eats mouse skates like a fat lady chews at mcdonalds. so i resorted back to my 8year(i think) old pogs mat that wasnt designed for computer mouses but for some kids game where you flip little bricks around. funny thing is though that the pogs mat is still as good as the day i got it for free :)

Possibly a bit overpriced but it works wonders with my laser mouse - I was previously using just the surface of my desk but it was a bit reflective.

Hmmm, I tested one of those things a couple of years back and didn't like it at all. The surfaces were ok, but they originally had less rubber feet. Used to slip all over the place 'cause the middle would bend down and touch the desk and the feet would lift up a bit. Now it looks like it'd just **** me off when my mouse/had kept bumping into the extra feet.
The last couple of years I've been using a Steelpad 4D which I highly recommend. While an Eve-mat may be a nice idea I doubt I'd ever use one.

I've not really had any problems with slippage or bumping the extra feet with my mouse but maybe that's one of those things that differs from person to person.

Perhaps you could ask a signature maker to hve a go at making you a nice Eve design and then send it to these guys who'd make you your own mouse mat with the image?

I still prefer the oldskool mousepads made out of cloth, with a rubber base.
Here's mine..
