I just wanted to share something read from the patch notes.
 Quote:
A new command has been added for Drones called "return to drone bay." Drones will now leave whatever task they were performing, return to the owning ship and enter the drone bay.
All I can say is...

Too bad it doesn't work properly. Not on SISI anyway. Half of them return to drone bay the other 1/2 just hang around outside your ship drinking and smoking and causing trouble.*
*Please note, not all of the above is true.

It'll be great for those times when two of my drones managed to get tangled up (dirty, dirty little drones) and take forever to get back to the ship. Now I don't have to leave the rest of the swarm orbiting waiting for the stragglers.

Yeh i saw this on sisi good option to add, also the "warp gang to-*" new feature is nice.

What alot of people fail to realise is that the devs do read these forums. They do look at the bug reports and feature requests. They do take our posts into consideration.
Whether they choose to implement them now or into six months, if at all, is something that we as players may not necessarily be able change, but at the very least, they listen.
This is one of the reasons I love EVE.

now all we need is an active mode (attack any and all targets)
and a pssive mode (attack assigned target then return and orbit)
be real nice to have that option in deadspace
but, return and scoop is a good start \o/

Hm... Only a few more issues to adress
-Drone formations
-Drone AI that makes sense
-Drones swiching between travel and orbiting speed at the right time
But hey, it's a start...

what the hell would be the point in drone formations?
The AI works fine for me

I think they said they were revamping the drone AI.
"Drones, sentry guns and NPCs will now actively target attackers of similar entities. For example, drones and NPCs will engage a target that is attacking their owning entity or 'gang members'"
I might be missintrupting this but that seems like it's saying your drones will stick together and focus there fire.

well the target u want to shoot - which given drones limited offensive abilities when facing multihiple targets is a good idea.

I want defensive drones.
There would be :
Defender Drones - Intercept and take the damage of turrets and missles
Repairer drones - There would be Shield , Armor, and Structure they would be controlled as remote repairers. They could be sent to repair someone else.
Energy Drones - I would love a few Cap Recharger drones they would be remotely used.
Cargo Drones They retrieve cargo for targetted cans Just like mining drones. They should exstend my range to see a cargo cans.
EW drones........................................

anyone ever thought of having the things 'Orbit this'?
Is it just me.. but if ive got a mate near me, hes out flying about 5km from me, WELL within my drones range. i tell the drones 'orbit this' and they sit arround orbiting my friend.. so if NPCs show up i target the NPCs and they go and whack the ais.. not flying FROM ME to the ais then back again (round trip=TOO LONG)
they come out of orbit around my friend.. they whack the NPCs they go back into orbit.
Easy to do. WHY ISNT it done? and can we please have it, then my total love of drones shall be complete
