Hello, I'm only playing eve since two weeks and I have the question if it is possible in eve to capture ships.
And if it is possible, can you only capture player ships or NPC ships too?
And ,how can you do it?

The only ships you can get into are ones that a pilot has ejected from, or the ones in your hangar.
And good luck trying to get someone to eject
EVE is like a box of chocolates |

Edited by: Avon on 26/08/2005 09:45:23 You can find ships that players have ejected from at safespots sometimes. You can board those and fly them away.
Also, getting people to eject isn't so hard ... ______________________________________________

This is an idea ive had and have brought up a few times.
Occasionally the ship you are in, when damaged enough, loses control before blowing up.
I think at this point the pilot should be ejected and then the attackers should be able to haul the damaged ship back to base to repair and use ---- Join Us

i like it, also, tho kinda crappy, if you dont eject quick enough you die with ship, tho combat would have to last a lot longer. ___________________________

Can make it more incentive to eject by having a pod survival rule that degrades the chances of a pod being able to survive ship destruction as a function of hull damage. If you eject at 100% hull, your pod can eject 100% safely. This percentage drops to 50% as hull reaches 0 (ship destruction). Now, pirates can be happier than being sad sitting at gates and gank whatever that comes out of them, as they add a new dimension to piracy. Now, you dont need only to ransom pods, you can try to ask for their ship and leave their egg alone. ;)

No you misunderstand, the ejection sequence would take place once the ship has lost control, and it would be automatic, so instead of the attackers continuing to attack, they get a message informing them that the ship is out of control and the pod has been ejected. It is at this point they can stop their guns and take the ship, or simply continue to shoot.
As it is there is only one outcome to PvP combat - ship destruction, this way, the ship can be salvaged.
Plus it would save pirates the bother of haggling over ransom demands, they simply take the ship down to say 10% hull, and wait for the pod to eject. Then they take their prize, the ship, or they web the pod and ransom it anyway and then take the ship ---- Join Us

I had the opportunity to capture a ship last night. (Little story, don't read if you tire easily)
I was testing the damage my guns could do in the fugitive hideout in Tew in my lovely Arbitrator (guns? Arbitrator? Surely not...) when a 12 day old approaches me and we strike up a conversation. I offer to show him what the arbi can do and we head off to kill a few more rats.
We arrive in this new area to find someone's abandoned a shuttle. We go over to the shuttle and I tell him that if he fancies a free 2,000ISK shot in the arm he should board the shuttle, set it to self destruct and get back on his Punisher, which he promptly did.
While he was aboard the shuttle I could have nicked his Punisher or I could have set it to self-destruct (which would be a nice surprise for when he got back aboard), but I left him to it, nice guy that I am.
Moral of this story: If you're going to do that to someone, make sure they're either very trusting or very naive.

Ability to board eachothers ships and a little swordfighting on the deck. Mount grabblinghook launchers to drag in ships before boarding.

But yah i'd like an idea that does "something" with ships. I liked the idea of wrecks you can mine for minerals or damaged equipment you have to repair.
Also for some nice scenery , the wrecks stay for a day or till downtime (and can be bumped to no blocking gates with wrecks :p)
