(Yea, there's a little carebear inside me and he's upset atm so here's my daily rant)
Seriously, is it possible to make NPCs not blow up drones when you CTD? It's not fun at all. Just today I've had 2 CTDs with NPC spawns swarming me. That's alot of drones worth alot of ISK lost to NPCs cause of game kicking me out.
The gallante really has drawn the shortest straw for NPCing. Megathron: Totally impossible to fit any kind of tanking and weapons without running out of CPU. Don't even think about trying this against Angel NPCs. Dominix: Can run a really good tank, but doesn't have enough powergrid to light a fire*****er. So to NPC hunt with Gallente ships requires drones. All the other races can fully use T2 modules for NPCing, without any fitting problems what so ever.

my solution was to stop CTDing (though i was only using 6heavies - in a raven)
the way i found of stopping CTDing was window mode -i ent CTDed once since i switched out of fullscreen - used to do it all the damn time

Edited by: Panshin Bolo on 26/08/2005 22:17:29 I share your pain mate. I've only trained up for a raven to npc in. *Add: Mega got no descent cap neither. And angels are too tough!

To fix CTD's + drones they should just code them to transport into your drone bay apon disconnection. I don't see how this can be exploited so um, problem solved.
Drones need a design overhaul in terms of functionality and command. They have so much potential in becoming much more interesting and involved. The system that is in place right now is way too basic

A Deimos performs quite well in NPCing. As a matter of fact, I think most HACs are quite well suited for killing belt NPCs. Fast and small enough to avoid most battleship damage (both guns and missiles), and enough tanking ability to absorb the frigate and cruisers damage.
I for one really enjoy killing angels spawns in my Muninn, fast and clean kills.

While i do belive its a sin to use the deimos has an NPC ship, I have done it on occasion (well, more then that..2b worth of npcing really... ) and it performs great. While in my pvp kit i use t2 drones..they aint a main part of the ship and thus the deimos can do just fine without them.
For a deimos, try (use as much t2 as possible ofc...t2 guns, rep, cap charger, dmg mods, etc): 5x Electrons, 1x med nos 1x named mwd, web, cap recharger 1x med rep, 1x harden, 2x dmg mod, 2x cpr
I had great luck with it up north against the guristas and im sure it would do fine fighting serps...sansha shouldnt be to bad...
Either that, or stop CTD'ing...

yea its a pain to lose drones like that . Truth is there is not much we can do about this so what id do is buy the bpo and recycle the crap loot and make replacements at least that way you not only save money but you have a steady supply of them to .

What bugs me the most is that nowadays you don't even regain control of your own drones after a CTD, so you have manually approach each of them and scoop them to your drone bay.
Before Exodus the drones did show up in the drone window and you could either start fighting again or simply recall them if they were damaged.

You got to be kidding me the dominix and Ishtar is probably the best NPCing ships ingame. the dom can run a tank equal to the apoc(except for the lower armor hp) solo any lvl4 angel mission in my dominix, and i specialy use it when the dmg is to low in the apoc to take out a rat.
and the ishtar, omg... superb, like hte domi but with a lighter tank. lvl3 misions can be soloed in less time then any other ship i've ever tried.
But with the drones ya i suffer with ya drones suffer from alot of mssedout commands, SUPERlow AI and some other annoying bugs

32 jumps into 0.0, no station around for light years.
Flyin around in my leet dommy.
Warp into a belt, a battleship spawn, just my luck!
Pop 14 Wasps, go to work on the battleship. <eve crashes> a minute or so goes by, while being grumpy. Log back in, launch 14 more wasps, bam, modem crashes.
Log back in without any drones about an hour later ------

ehhh? I can solo the Angel Commander spawns (no idea how hard agent missions are). Just as with the other 4 factions. It's just that with Gallante ships you are dependant on drones. Which totally suck as they are lost if you CTD.

Edited by: madaluap on 27/08/2005 08:49:30 the dronebay should become a place where you can put in tiny drone factories. you would pay 200 k for the wasp type drone factory onboard your ship and after losing youre deployed drones it would start building a new 1 which would take you 5 minutes. offcourse you really need to lose it and than it will start new production.
doesnt seem that weird, ammar has infinite ammo and the only flying projectiles that come close to drones are missiles and those dont cost ****.
think about roque drones, those have the power to reproduce themselves and with the 5 min timer losing youre drones in battle is still a big pain.

hmm.. o sorry, think i missed the last two lines about therefor they need drones to be effective=)
and by the way... why do some people take for granted that everyone know what all shortnings stand for? so what does CTD mean? (i get it's some kind of crash...)
therefor you shouldalways type the full word/sentence the first time you use it in a text, then you can shorten it, just a tip
