For the Starting Pirate we present to you a nice thread made by ParMizaN. Beginner's Guide to Piracy by ParMizaN It covers the use of a scanner, securit status and it's limitations, where to find victims and more.
Verone's Guide: How to Survive a ransom attempt
Verone from a famour pirate corporation gives advise that will certainly increase your survival chances in any hold-up. In the thread itself there are also some nice tips. This is mainly written from a pirate viewpoint so don't expect any clues on how to get the lowest price for your ransom or anything that might help you as a victim, however do read this if you want to make it out alive.
Ander's guide to ransome: What to do?
Ander has also written a short guide on what to do when you are being ransomed. He mentions you can wait for buddies or take on the pirates alone, but also reveals some pirate tricks to counter this. Also gives a rough idea as to what a reasonable price might be. The entire thread also offers some other viewpoints which might be worth considering.
Evading pirate camps by Zaintiraris A very nice short explanation of what you can do to prepare yourself to evade a standard pirate infestation, includes a nice tip on what modules to use.
How to survive a gatecamp by Tulor An extensive step by step guide on how to avoid and recognize all sorts of camps. It tells you how to avoid them, how to get through and in sort what to do when you realise your caught. Entire thread will make a good read and will show several perspectives on the situations mentioned.

People who need a guide in order to pirate dont deserve to own guns. 90% of the fun as a n00b is to explore and experiment with tactics.
I mean "lesson 1: Dont kill anyone in highsec space"
Spelling is bad? I blame the beer |

Malka Badi'a's guide on how to use the ingame scanner
The long-range ship scanner is one of the most commonly used tools of piracy, something used far more than even weaponry itself. This device helps you discover viable safespot areas, locate a victim, estimate the saftey of a moon, and even review the status of complexes. In short, a good scanner pilot can locate a victim under 30 seconds...
