This image sums up my interaction of the live event.
With that said i have to say: WHAT THE HELL CCP?!? That had to be the most poorly executed live event I have ever seen. First off the 1000 people cap in local was just plain absurd. This allowed nearly all the people who actually wanted to participate to stay stuck on gate to do **** all. Hell freighters on AP runs were still warping to the gate. Even when the cap was raised was access near impossible.
The other problem was the stream. Now i assume that the player cap was so that the stream didn't grind to a halt. I'm damn sure i'm right on this since big pre planned and non pre planned titan oops fleet fights have more than triple the numbers involved in this thing. It had the worst commentary in anything I've ever seen online or off. The guys didn't even know some of the ship types and it was filled with silent dead air moments and endless mispronunciations or even knew what was going on. The word "ehh" was spoken more than words.
The stream allowed me to see that less than 40% of local population was actually even involved in the event at any time. And of course NPC/Player interaction wasn't great seeing as people rather shoot each other.
How about spreading this over a constellation and not only one player cap limited system? Like some sort of... what's the word i could use? "incursion" into gallente space, yeah that sounds about right. The RP player in me truly regrets not being part of this, let alone not even being in the sidelines or a witness. Tibus Heth is going to war? Where do i sign up? And none of this FW bullshit i mean a real game shattering war! I know live events are a kick to the lore sac but how come they are so infrequent in any form?
Other than the location, my DUST 514 character did nothing in this little mix up. Here was a prime opportunity for full on EVE/ DUST interaction. The part that still baffles me is I keep hearing different stories on how the two were supposed to actually interact. All i had was just normal boring DUST matches.
Hell if this event was a prerequisite of the game that i'm forced to miss out on i'd ask for my money back.

I can hear the capsuleers honking their horns in frustration in that pic. Kind of like THIS. You've got to remember that these are just simple miners. These are people of the land. The common clay of New Eden. You know... morons. |

Maybe live events shouldn't be restricted to one solar system then. |

Loved it.
Yeah sure some thing might of been done better, I would of loved some kind of Promo Video but on the whole was really good fun.
My personal highlight was when concord came back online and local raged with tears and everybody became suspect.

During the event I was logged off and watching comedy specials on NetFlix with friends, so I probably had more fun than at least half the people who were in there and definitely had more fun than all the people who spent hours locked out at the gates.
Sorry, but a thousand people in one spot doing anything just isn't fun. Live Events are neither. |

At one point my screen was just full of ships exploding.. was actually quite pretty, like a firework show :) |

k. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

I love your sig "LIVE EVENTS ARE NEITHER"
And by love I mean laugh at. You should cry more.
I'm sure it's such a terrible Eve development that people aren't allowed to ruin every live event for some meta nerd circle yank on their "online community" website that is so edgy and cool and hip. |

It wasn't perfect but I enjoyed the recent event.
Nice to see stuff actually happening in the universe, you know, outside downtime.

A few thousand players is not the "Entire active player base". And perhaps they should have planned a little better for the turnout they had, rather than set an absurdly low cap of 1k, and then slowly let it go up, but never anywhere near the numbers that wanted to get in.
I certainly got a reminder of why I log in so rarely.

Piling everything into a single grid and dropping a universal suspect flag on it made the event a unholy mess that drowned any bits of storyline or player influence that there may have possibly been.
It could have used a bit more coordination in the story events, more possibilities of influence, like a Caldari fleet forming up to nuke a cyno jammer so they can jump in a bit more support until another jammer goes online. More layers of involvement, instead of a pile. I know herding cats is near impossible, but placing strategically piles of catnip and valerian around for them to run to and go wild could go a long way.
I do not know how many resources CCP made available to the event team. So let's just call it a learning experience and a query for more resources so the next big event looks much better on the big screen of a convention. Mining Overhaul Nothing changed since 2008. |

I think Nyla nailed it, as many others have. Moar systems.
The best way to do these events is probably to have multiple simultaneously across the eve universe. Whether this is a bread crumb trail or herding cats or just many large events... split up interest and you'll split up node load.
Caldari/Gallente call on their Amarr/Minmatar allies to reciprocate their planned action with one of their own. Meanwhile pirate factions a, b and c are leaked word and take advantage by timing blah blah blah you get the idea.
I'm just glad we still have an events team despite the best efforts of others. They seem genuinely interested in improving these and I'm sure they will learn with every one.

I had fun, till my client crashed just seconds before 17.00.
I was there early in a Talos on my other account, made a few safe spots, looked a bit around who was there.
During DT I read up on the event. and decided that a Talos might be a bit too thin to even get 1 shot off. So after DT while keeping informed on what was going on (Le infamous cap) I jumped 23 jumps back to home, grabbed a heavy tanked BS and jumped 23 jumps back.
When I arrived back in Luminaire local was at 700 and I joined up with the Gallente fleet and overall had a fun time, till the crash. Strangely enough the next day I found my ship still in 1 piece and jumped 23 jumps back home.

I thought it was great, seriously. I was in the 250 man Gallente fleet, and everyone had a great time there.
There are some common criticisms being thrown around that I don' t agree with:
1) 1000 man player cap -- At about 1500 people the system started becoming totally unuseable. CCP has to cap the system in order for the actors to reliably execute their actions. In general, I think these comments are coming from high-sec carebears who have never seen real 0.0 combat. It's laggy, buggy, and generally unreliable once you pass 1000 players, in large part because having 1000 players in a single MMO area is hugely impressive!
2) Scripted --Am I the only one who was excited about the event because it was scripted? I thought that was the general premise from the beginning. Eve Online's story unfolds, and the players are invited to participate in the events. This was a conflict between the Gallente Federation and Caldari Navy, a group of destroyer flying rag tag capsuleers aren't the center-point of the story, nor are the 0.0 gangs dropping in to fry dozens of pubbies. 99% of eve is player generated content, it's nice to have things like Titans crashing into planets happen for our entertainment.
The only legit complaint is when CONCORD re-entered the scene for a few minutes. |

i dunno. maybe if CCP choose better time for it....
sometimes i really feel like amateur surrounded by children :D anything happens when i'm at work. Kid came from school/kindergarten and he wants to play. Ok. CCP organized live event.
thant's funny because we speak about different timezones and my zone is +4 of CCP. But even this difference is not enough to me to come from work to play in time
So yes. I haven't enjoyed this event. Maybe if i was 20 years younger... |

While we do appreciate your well written response to the live event, it would be better if it was in one of the many already posted on the topic. I believe Rule #16 applies to this thread. This is the reason for the lock.
