Hello all, thanks for taking time to read this.
A friend and I are wanting to PvP. We're not in a corp, and we'd like to remain corp-less for a little while longer though eventually will probably join one.
Until that time, we'd like to know how to best PvP. We're in Gallente space, and we want to basically go after anyone we can and blow up some ships.
We want to keep it fairly cheap (if possible - if not, that's fine too) so if we lose ships and equipment we're not out too much and can just rebuy, refit and go again.
We want to just jump in and learn, so we've been doing that and attacking other players in low sec when we can. We have, of course, been annihilated to this point and would like to know what we can do to improve.
We would like to stick to frigates and destroyers if possible, but if we need to use Cruisers for the best experience, that's OK too. We just want to learn enough where we don't lose them constantly and we actually kill an opponent for a change (because that's not happened yet).
Our main goal at the moment is to skill up for PvP and basic ship stuffs, and hopefully 2-man gank some folks.
Is this possible to do with Frigates? Or do we need a Frig/Destroyer combo? 2 Cruisers? Battlecruiser/Cruiser? Whatever would work as a good 2 man combo is what we're interested in right now. We know we're not going to win all our fights (we haven't won any yet!) but we at least want to put up good battles for who we do fight.
Thanks for any responses! |

Your two best options:
Join Faction Warfare, or sign up with Red vs Blue. Either way, you'll have lots of targets and be able to fly cheap ships. Both have their pros and cons, but those are overwhelmingly the best options for a newbie wanting to PvP. |

Thanks for the input. I looked into RvB but didn't find their corp to apply for. I'm assuming I just don't know how to use the corp finder properly. I will look into that.
Also I don't know anything about Faction Warfare, but I'm interested. So I'll look into that. Thanks for the input. |

U can try joining FW , doesnt matter which faction , u can pvp and mak some money to fund your ships , easy as pie .
As for what u can do as a 2 some , imo easiest thing u can do is go out with your friend , fit up 2 condors with light missiles point and mwd .. find a target and just orbit at 15-20 km with mwd point on and shoot ... 80% it can't go wrong since 90% of fw players do it aswell |

If you're planning on joining Faction Warfare on the Minmatar side then you should consider joining Oxide Nation (EU tz) or Late Night Academy (US tz) as alternatives to the NPC corp, Tribal Liberation Front. In both cases you'll get excellent support and you won't have to deal with the trolls, spais and spam in General Militia chat. |

I'm looking into Faction Warfare and what it is, and how to get into it. So thanks for that info. I have a couple Condors already so I can use them as well.

We are in Gallente space, so I don't know how that affects what side we join. I don't know anything about Faction Warfare yet, so I have to learn and read up on it. Sounds interesting though! Thanks. |

Go faction warfare, get in a cheap Atron fit, and have at it. I started this in FW today, in the Gallente militia. |

If you want to pvp in null sec then go pvp in null sec. You can have 2 cruisers with one having long point and other scram/web. Even a destroyer / frig combo is good. Ships are not everything though You need tactics as well and to learn that you can read, watch videos and/or our join people who know what they are talking about.

Hey there! Welcome to the world of PvP. Its a uphill battle where you will lose alot til you learn who to fight/what to fight and what your capable of. Best thing is research players see how long their Employment History you'll know longer they been around what kind of fit they got. Or you can always look into, eve-kill.net or battleclinic site to see how well they are in pvp, in there you also find what ships they have lost and kinda judge what kind of fits that they are using. If you want to make the most money PvP'ing I'd recommend Faction Warfare. You can literally make billions by doing plexes if you know how. And there is always fleets up and people that like to roam together. As well as you'll learn alot if you join corps and what not. I'd recommend an actual player based corp instead a standard one thats set up within the faction. Like the corp me and a few of my friends have joined are just starting out with faction warfare, we all are but its easy to get into relatively safer or atleast you can ask for help. If you decide to join check us out, we all newbs here someway or another. And holler in game if you like I'll fleet with you and give you help with fits, etc. I like helping :)

Everyone is going to tell you to join FW or RVB but honestly there is nothing wrong with the way you are doing it now. Two noobs in a pair of dessies or frigs can roam low sec and get kills just fine. It will take some patience and planning but the rewards are worth it. |

If you do decide you want to do Fw and militia does not matter to you.
The Angry Beaver Brigade is a corp that does exactly what you are discussing. Its a corp where the 2 leaders goal is to teach people how to PvP in frigs/dest and as people get better they promote people to the next level of ship. So this sounds like what you are looking into. I am sure you could just tag along on a few runs before joining them, just to see if you think their FC's know what they are doing.
