Hey all
I was wondering about having the ability to start training for skills without logging into the game. E.G. under My Account on the website you are able to view what skills you currently have and how much money you have etc. What if you had the option to start training for a skill without going into the game, get what I mean? Or maybe the ability to queue skills up for training.
Just a thought.

Very good idea.
I also wondering that it is not possible. If I would be on vacation I could have via webaccess a chance to change my skilltraining

sure, why not nicely ask CCP to make the game 100% modificable?
everyone gets his/her own legal scripts, everyone gets his/her own huds and everyone gets his/her own ship models...
"OMG, LOOK AT THAT AMAZING SHIP".... "looks crappy here"

This was even discussed back in beta, I still think it's a great idea though.
Imagine if you're on vacation and can get to an internet cafe and switch skills, totally awesome.
I even remember CCP thinking of an SMS service to inform players when a skill had completed training. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Glad to see some people have the same thoughts!

It took a while but I found CCPs take on this: CCP response.
BTW, don't revive that old thread, that post is over a year old. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Edited by: Zatark on 30/08/2005 16:55:27 Ahh, I came I saw and I retreated! Here is what a community manager had to say.
Training skills from an out of game interface (short of having a family member log-in and change them for you) is something that will never occur. This has been stated by the Dev Team numerous times.
There are a variety of reasons for this, ranging from "Training skills from outside the game breaks the immersion and the game stops being a game" to "Training skills from outside the game caters to the powergamer at the detriment of the casual player" and a slew of others.

I wud still like to see the SMS idea implemented. This can only be a good thing, as skills get higher and higher multi's (14x for cap ships ). And the people that are learning those skills, yeah, are probs gonna be powergamers lol.
Well at least it's not like WoW, where u can buy lvl's on ebay. Powerleveling it's called. u give them u login info, then u come bak in 3 days, and u have gained how ever many lvl's u paid 4 -.-
whoa! once u remove the lvl'ing from WoW, there's not much game left roflmao. Eve u can't do "powerlvling" coz it's all about real world time

Instead of changing skills offline, what might work is that once you set a skill training, it keeps training until you change the selected skill.
So I might buy a skillbook, set that skill training, go to work and come back to find it halfway to level 3. Or go on holiday and come back to find it at level 5.

Um, yeah... because CCP actually cares all of a sudden about catering to the casual gamer? This whole effing game is devoted to the 23/7 powergamer. No concern at all ever given to the casual gamer.
Longer travel times? Harder agents, less pay, more skills, an entire race nerfed? Powergamers have no trouble at all recovering, but casual gamers are pretty much killed off.
Powergamers will be in-game all day long, and easily have access to the actual client any time they need to switch a skill. CASUAL gamers are EXACTLY the ones that need a quick, fast, easy & Boss/Office-proof means via web-browser to switch skills & start a new one training.
HELLO? LOGIC? CCP is far off wrong on this one.
Also, few people care about this abstract "immersion" factor CCP keep raving about. Yes, EVE is pretty for about the 1st hour you play it. You oooh and ahhh, and marvel at the illogical clouds in space and stations and planets, then you quickly zoom all the way out and start getting down to work. You stop caring about immersion and you just want to get your thing done & get it done fast, and hit the X up in the top right corner :P WE DON'T CARE ABOUT IMMERSION. I'd give anything for a fast running, 2D sprite or even TEXT based client. Many players have older systems (like me) that don't support EVE's best graphics options or they just turn them all off anyways to get the game to run faster!
We don't want more immersion. We just want a fast running client, and we want an easier, faster way to change skills.
So what if CCP has said already they won't do it? If enough people whine & say they want it, they will do it. -------------------------------------------- Soban... red all the way through and through |

There is another EVE game ?
Power gamers train just as fast as the casual gamer, get a clue about what a power leveler/gamer is.

Try doing level 3 missions while you train up -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |
