Let me start by saying, so far poor me has been podded (*checks eve mails*) 4 times. Now, not once did I loose more than I expected, so before any of you start, I accept that I died, and in many cases expected said action and was prepared.
So, with my 4 deaths come four killers. There all different people.
My first death was deep in 0.0, where I actually asked to be killed.
My second again in 0.0 was by a member of the Stain Empire - I didnĘt ask for that. Third again by a member of the Stain Empire...and finally my firth was by a gate camper in a 0.4 in Genesis region.
Now, I am not complaining about being killed, each of them I found to be quite amusing, and some even helped me get home faster.
The problem lies with there attitude to me. I understand some my have been busy, or there just so used to being flamed after they refuse to even read what I put. But when you get very ignorant replies, it wines me up more than them killing me in a multi-million ship.
So, my question is, why are people like that, why can I not have a decent even if short conversation with my killers? And where are the pirates that would joke along and talk about it... ThatĘs all.
By the way, where can I go to find interesting pirate like players. Some that will offer some challenge, rather then sniping me in a shuttle at 100K?

Most pirates are quite friendly.
The problem is that the last 100 victims of theirs called them up and said "OMG **** YOU ******* ****** YOU ******* ***** I HOPE YOU DIE!!!!!"
Its hard for them to get back into a mood of being nice to their victims after that. -- Proud member of the [23].

Right there.
Also, if a victim tries talking to you in a civil manner before you kill them, it generally means they're trying to stall you until their friends arrive.

/me raises hand
I'm always up for a good chat with just about anybody.
Usually i won't start conversations with people i kill unless i think i have some decent advice to offer them. In general people are just rude and stupid, which is rather annoying as i try to be as polite and sporting as possible within reason, but when people show that they are smacktards i tend to write them off and stop caring what they think and just focus on annoying them. I enjoy the rare person who asks for advice or wants to talk.

I never flame a killer, wouldn't no matter how much it 'hurt' me. I would be sarcastic and mean, but not blatent flaming name calling etc.
I guess I just have been killed by the wrong pilots. I didnt expect the gate camper to chat, but the Stain members I tought would be more talkative...
So, who wants to kill me next

Ok hate mails are actually kinnda funny. But in general having someone follow you around screaming at you in local for the next half an hour isn't. Generally you get one hate mail, and its over with. The whinner in local just doesn't shut up, ever. Not to mention that it send a big huge "pirate in local" flag up to anyone who hasn't noticed yet.

As to those pvp'ers who can't keep up a good mood just because some cattle whine in local...please, are you sissy girls? What people say after you killed them should have any effect on your mood whatsoever - just remember ... ...all must die ------------------------------------------------

It¦s all about the options a pirate has. Try to imagine you want to make cash in 0.4 with a pirate ship. You might think now: tolling a pod or ship could be an income. But try it yourself in your BS: shot something and then check how long you could tank the sentrys to toll a pod or ship. You will find out that there is not enough time to do a tolling wich needs 2-5 minutes. You also irsk your ship very much if you dont leave the sentry guns alone. You might think: i could be a sniper outside sentry gun range - but then you will find out that you cannot warpscramble people to toll them.
So what is left to do? You can masskill traffic and go for the loot. You should podkill everyone to make them understand that you claim this system for now and that you want money. Some customers do understand this and will convo you to pay you before they uncloak their ship after a jump...others dont understand it...and you podkill em.
Try a TDG spawn or the TDG complexes in Pure Blind, Syndicate or empire. |

I dont like the word "Pirate", most people are not pirates and they dont deserve that name either, they shoot u..smacktalk about it...post their "³ber 1337 omg hax wrecking shots" in their bio's.
That is not being a pirate in the right way, offcourse..u cant enter his ship and stab your sword trough his big swollen belly...but at least try and ransom when possible. I dont say i do either...but i am/used to be a nice .
Even 2 of my victims are good friends now and even joined this corp to do the same as i did to them
Yarr! And i do believe pirates are just as nice people as others can be. And carebears are prob more greedy in the end as a pirate that gets his fun from a corpse anyway...

Lifewire is right. I dont really like gate-ganking very much, I think it is a very uncivil thing to do, but the game-mechanics make it very difficult to actually make a living with piracy any other way. I would love to prowl astroid belts in low sec empire and ransom people, but there's noone in those astroid belts because there's nothing worth getting there. And even if there was something worth getting it appears that my face on local channel is enough to have people running for safespot and station.
On topic: If you want friendly pirates look no further than TDG, Teddies or BNCL, service with a smile

Heh more like where are all the friendly victims!
My corpmate was scouting around low sec and found a Ferox on scanner, so he narrows it down to a belt, loses it, then finds it again so he warps in, destroys it, it was a well worked kill. Then the guy goes nuts in local and private convo.
He demands 50mill for a new ship and modules. After being told "no, why should i? You know the risks of low sec" the guy starts calling him names, mailing him threats, started saying he was going to use Pings and Locator Devices to locate his connection or something lol.
He then threatened with some alliance that no one has heard of (which is usually the case) and then his corp spends 30mill on my corpmates bounty...why didnt they use that for a new ship for him.
Anyway this harrasment went on for 3days straight until we had to start petitioning. So again, where are the friendly victims?

i've had my ship forceably removed by another player twice(was podded once)
one I had a civil convo with the pirate, who was suprised my 12 day old character actually put him in hull (at which point he put me in pod and let me fly off) the other I was taking the short way from where I was in Solitude region to Yulai in an unarmed speed fitted atron, and it goes thru a few 0.0 systems... so I was just blown up after attempting to make a run for it with a ceptor chasing me a few systems before he caught me
maybe it's the way I was brought up, maybe it's from being jaded by 4+ yrs of EQ on Rallos(the lootable pvp server), maybe it's from being screwed by mgtmnt at my job weekly but dieing doesn't bother me, smack talk gets you ignored fast enough, and being civil allows me to talk and maybe learn from my mistakes(if the pirate replys with comments) |

'Friendly Pirates' is kind of an oxymoron isn't it? What are these the ones we're supposed to beg and plead to ransom our ship/pod??? Pffft...
You are what you are, if you get ahead by preying on other people, don't be surprised that they hate you.
I at least have some respect for those pirates who damn thier security stat and could give a crap what others think of them than those mealy-mouthed, 'but I'm a goody-two-shoes pirate, can't we chat after I blow you up???'
