Did you snigger reading that title? Well it seems that two gents at Pycon did aswell. Unfortunately this annoyed the woman in the row in front of them who overheard them. Smiling, she took a picture and put on twitter, and then to quote Bill Maher, the tweets hit the fan.
One of them was fired as his company tried to preempt the fallout as Ms Adria Richards went on twitter comparing herself to Joan of Ark without the Visions. What the actual hell, the guy got fired for this, and had a wife and kids. The slow applause begins now. The good news is that Ms Richards has been fired herself over this.

I love Bill Maher. He has the most fine tuned bullshit detector in the world.
But then at the same time he's on the board of directors for PETA so I guess his radar coverage is set a bit high.
Kind of heart breaking when you think about it. It's like finding out that Ted Nugent went vegan or that George Carlin joined the Moral Majority.

I find myself snickering at the innocent comments alot. Having a dirty mind does that to you. No matter how old you get, sometimes the little things are still funny.
UPS came and delivered a package... Temp office lady told him to 'take it in the rear'. She didnt speak very good english... I fouled a monitor and keyboard with coffee and laugh/choked for about 5 mins.
Was drug into the boss's office for a scolding/firing over laughing at the temps accent (yep, she turned me in to HR for racial/sexual insensitivity). After explaining what REALLY happened, we both laughed. Now whenever the UPS guy shows up I hear my boss snicker his ass off from his office.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |
