The proliferation of large ships in Null Sec as a way to control space has prevented smaller alliances from taking hold. The Super Capital has become the end-game. It's time to open null sec to small skirmish warfare
I propose to have systems in null defined as small, medium and large. Each system would be geared for that ship size.
For example, if a system is identified as small then it can have small POS, small infrastructure hubs, etc. Furthermore, medium and large weapons/repairers won't activate in a small system. Alliances can bring their big ships for supply/infrastructure reasons but the fighting must be done with small ships.
The distribution of medium and small systems close to high-sec could provide a good bridge for smaller alliances to replenish their supplies.
That's my idea.

So in a small system people would have to take down small POS using only frigates. Why don't you go try that on the test server. Let me know how it goes. |

Some obvious rebalancing would be needed. But, I think you get the general idea... |

You should NOT change nullsec in this manner....
I could see ship limits in some new type of wormhole, or in plexes / missions / deadspace... but I don't see this working for "systems".
Why do we need/want this change? What good would it bring about? |

Not even, wormholes limits should only be determined by the lack of SOV and the total mass of the entrance.
as for OP's idea, its horrible, simple as that, there should NEVER be entire systems with ship restrictions (putside of the obvious, like capitals in highsec, because there is nothing in highsec that would require them), ESPECIALLY systems that you can have SOV in.
the problem with nullsec is that it works TOO WELL. it was designed as an area of space where players can ally and establish their own empire. they did that. and their empires became so large from their success that a majority of the people to go to null wanted to join these "successful" empires, to the point that the only people in eve with the power to take SOV, are the oens who already have it.
Its like Europe, no matter how ahrd you try, you could never take territory or found a new country in Europe without the voluntary approval of a majority of the existing countries, because there is no way to procure the necesary firepower and numbers to be a threat. |
