Hey all, sorry to add another "omg i r teh nub, h3lp meh!" thread, but I've just finished editting and peicing together a vid, but I've rendered it, etc all audio, blablah and it's 210megs. It's 12 min exactly and 1152x864 quality is 100.
Now although quality being yummy and res is h00ge, no one is gonna download it. Is there anyway I can shrink it without overly affecting it's quality (as I was going for decent qual)? Would dropping it to half size be better?
I'm using Adobe Prem 1.5 (bit new at it, but finding my way around). all my fraps are at 1152x864 etc. Is 210 megs a lil too much? Any tips?
♥ thanks in advance -------------------------------

What format did u use to encode it?
At such a high resolution, 12min long and at good quality its going to be that big and your proberly right in thinking you'l lose a lot of your audience. You could consider making the large version available but also reducing the resolution for a lighter version to cut down that file size.
Just incase; WMV is the best format for Eve footage. In premiere go to export rather then movie below should be adobe media encoder which will let you do that. Go through the settings and adjust as needed. You'l want V8 of the windows media video codec, two passes and a bit rate of 2100+ (2500 should cover everything but 2100 is ok for most vids, depends on content).
Any more questions drop into the Eve-Videos channel in game and im sure someone will help . ----- Eris Discordia; I think the proper term is <3

Edited by: Rei Storm on 31/08/2005 23:12:20 Edited by: Rei Storm on 31/08/2005 23:12:01 Ye I'm encoding to WMV, do I just change the size of the frame in the audiences of the transcode settings, if I want to resize it? Would it be best to just got for 50% or could I get away with doing 75%?
Thank you for the fast responce :) (I didnt want to interupt the guys in eve-videos as they seemed a lil busy talking about something else)
Edit: Forgot to ask about audio settings, what's best, atm it is on 128kps, 48khz stereo CBR
And sorry for the nubbish questions -------------------------------

I download everything from this forum so if it was 30mb or 300mb, I would still download it. I'll wait a bit longer for better quality.
@ Loxy: What do you mean by double-pass? Do you mean making your vid, and then producing another vid using only your just-completed vid as it's content?

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 01/09/2005 01:00:11 Use Lame MP3 128kbs for audio, WMV9 for video.
Encode twopass bitrate, maybe 1000-1500kbs. -- Proud member of the [23].

Edited by: Rei Storm on 01/09/2005 10:12:43 Okay I just recoded it with 2500 instead of 2100, audio and everything else is still the same. At first I thought I'd hit the nail on the head, but at times (during combat) it goes really blocky and looks rather pants.
I'm going to try and cut the size to 75% of the original, with the same quality... Bit of a trial and error, but it means wasting another hour for it to encode...
Could it be anything to do with pixel aspect ratio? ATM it's on Sqaure Pixels 1:0
