I have been playing EvE off and on for a bit now. I jumped into the deep end right at the bat and created several toons.
My question is that I have one toon who has never left the station and has been training since 2011-06-04 23:25:00.

My thoughts were to keep him training for a while and sell him to make a ton of ISK. Is there some way of finding out his value? Or what do people here think I should ask for him. I have not spent much if any time on eveboards to determine a selling price.

you can ask for a price check in the character bazaar. My guess would be somewhere between 6 and 10bil but i am no expert.

Site says 9 bil
Nice site thanx. All my other toons are at 8 bil
Good site to have incase I want to just buy another instead of training the toon up. Feel better using that site to see how much a toon is worth and not get in a bidding war. |

I believe the floor is generally derived by how much ISK the character has cost you so far. This assumes you didn't devalue the character by training conflicting skills (e.g. Advanced Laboratory Operation with Minmatar Titan), skills past their usefulness (any Processing V skill), negative sec status (sometimes irrelevant), very negative standings, long corp history per age, etc.
Typically I derive the rough base amount with a simple formula. There are approximately 2.2 million SP in a month (assuming aligned attributes and training) and a PLEX currently goes for 515M ISK. This would be the cost to the buyer for buying (in your case) 18 months of training at today's PLEX prices.
40M SP / 2.2 * 515 = 9.363 Billion ISK (or for the super lazy 40 * 250 = 10,000)
Additionally, there are many other modifiers. Combat chars go for more than industrial chars (generally). Unavailable skill books, old birth dates, famous, and high faction standings add different amounts of value on their own. 9-12 M SP "perfect tengu" pilots command a premium over the floor due to demand. Same for hulk pilots to a degree, but there is more supply. Leadership characters do well since there is only 9 months of Charisma skills total meaning you have to burn a bonus remap (not always available) and everyone HATES training those "useless" skills for 6 months for perfect Leadership.
Jump clones, bonus remaps (up to 5 total remaps max I believe), resculpts, and the like do not add any value it seems. Implants add only the value of what it would cost to buy on the market today. Don't forget the 2x PLEX it takes to transfer as well. A lot of characters under 20M SP will "profit" less than 2x PLEX so it's really a wash and wasted time on your part.
As long as you're beating the average (M SP / 2.2 * 515) for your price, then you've made a good investment. Anything over the base you can safely call profit (depending on PLEX prices during those 18 months of course :). I realize I went off on a longer discussion than required, and I'm not intending to derail, but I'd like to hear other people's methodologies. . |
