Hi. I have found various belts some of which contain omber and some which contain kernite. I want to know which would be better to mine. I know that kernite is double the volume of omber, and that you need 400 to refine, rather than 333 for omber. The products from refining kernite would seem a fair bit better than omber, but is it still better when you take into account the volume/refining amount?
Thanks in advance

i think that kernite is way better
yes, it is heavier and needs more to refine, but it's the result that counts
afaik you get more money out of Kernite than of Omber in the same time Phalus too big, check mail - Cortez |

Quite possibly not. It is a somewhat paradoxical fact that "lower" quality ores often give a better return because of their smaller volume and safer location (can run more of a dedicated miner without defenses). IIRC, scordite was actually more profitable than kernite/jaspet for a while, due to high pyerite demand.

This is really what the question boils down to, which ores are more profitable and whether or not refining them would yield a better profit than selling the raw ore is determined by the current market conditions. Nobody can really answer your question accurately without opening up their market screen and crunching some numbers. Even if they could, their answer might be invalidated the very next day if prices fluctuate too much. My calculator is actually a more valuable tool to me than my mining lasers are lol. |

333 omber to refine?
last i checked, it was 500 omber to refine
from the database:
Omber is a common ore that is still an excellent ore for novice miners as it has a sizeable portion of isogen, as well as some tritanium and pyerite. A few trips of mining this and a novice is quick to rise in status. 500 ore units are needed for refining.
