I have an idea for this game, perhaps it can be implemented in a later patch?
Most online games have a voice chat, I was hoping EVe coudl come up with one as well at some time in the future. It woudl also be interesting if you coudl someone how program it wher eyou had to hail the person you wanted to talk to, then they had to answer before the voice chat intiated, as for when you form gangs, maybe a gang chat option? Where if you open the gang channel the entire gang can talk to each other? it would really help with planning suprise warp in's on pirates etc.
Just an idea!

there are plenty of 3rd party programs that do that for you. just find one and run it under EvE. the devs already have enough problems to worry about, so lets not add to the list of unnecessary demands

I think this is a great idea, me and a few friends have in the meantime used a 3rd party program (ventrilo), which is great, but it would be so nice to talk to more ppl thru the game itself.

please let us stick to third party programs. The game bungee jumps enough from lag as is. We sure don't need more bandwith for the server to try to handle.

I posted this idea a while back, almost word for word. 
Voice chat is necessary for a game like this.
Since our corp started using vocal comms, the idea of typing really annoys me. Especially as the text font is too small to read comfortably. (for some bizarre reason)
However, I now agree that the last thing we need to do is to use up more bandwidth on the EVE servers.
So I will have to agree with other posters and recomend using a third party program.
A good idea would be to advertise some of the better voice comms programs on this site, and perhaps within evespace.
Though I think a better idea would be for someone to create a seperate program that integrates with eve but doesn't use the eve server.
I would just love the ability to hail other pilots without having to give them all the details to connect to my comms server, which, lets face it, is more trouble than its worth.

ive lookd for voicechat's and cant find any other the ventrilo wich i cant use =[
anyone else have any suggestions?

We use one called Roger Wilco. Though I have heard there are better ones.
There is also one called Teamspeak. Haven't tried it Though.

and "Most online games have a voice chat" I've played several and have yet to see one that has in game voice. Yes I can come up with peer to peer games that do. But I personally can't come up with one MMORPG that has.

Voice 'chat' requires bandwidth. Voice 'chat' is a good idea for corporations and organization (squads etc), but please... use your own third party programs such as the ones mentioned above.
I would HATE to see it actually implemented into EVE in a future patch.
No need for it at all. Just use your own 'voice chat' program. Besides, although they have created an amazing game... CCP still needs to fix the existing functions.
