Hi all,
I'm looking for a pure tanking setup for these 2 ships, so it's not necessary to do any damage, but it must tank very very well.
I already fly an Apoc and my cap doesn't get empty. Apoc: low: 2x large II 3x hardener, 1x 1600mm, 1x cap relay Apoc: mid: 4x cap recharger II I can also put in about 6/7 mega pulses and maintain my cap.
But I'm new to caldari ships and have no idea what kind of tanking setup is used for a Scorpion. For scorp I thought about 1x Xlarge Shield Boost, 3x Shield hardener, 4x Cap recharger II. And in low slots: 4x PDS II Now.... my cap will drain to 0
The boosting of shield gives me 120 hp / sec (= 480 hp / 4 sec) The boosting of armor gives me 177 hp / sec (= 2x 800 hp / 9 sec)
On Apoc I can have 10k armor and my cap will stay ok and have a boosting of 177 hp / sec. With scorp I can't ...
I think I'm doing something seriously wrong here. But then again, I have no idea how Caldari ships work atm..
My current skills: Energy Management 4 Energy Sys Ops 5 Amarr BS 3 Shield Management 2 Shield Operation 3 Shield Compensation 0
Ok, I know I have to train my shield skills a lot higher then this, but is there anyone out there who has got a shield tank that won't empty the cap? And what skills do I need for that?
Greetz,

Most shield tank setups drain the cap (except passive tanks) - you just have to learn to switch them off

Try Xlarge shield booster II with a shield boost amp.
Also shield tanking makes use of passive recharging wich also adds up a (tiny) bit.

These are all identical to eachother (only difference is in cpu/grid) - XLarge C5-L - XLarge II - 2x Large C5-L - 2x Large II
So no difference there. I guess there isn't any shield tank that can maintain it's cap and repair almost as good as armor tankers?

If you use cap power relays you will eventually be able to get a forever running shield tank.... but its a huge pain in the butt.
You will have to sacrafice something for shield boost amps....
will you be fighting npc's?
if so look up their damage type so you can cut down on the # of hardeners for boost amps
I at one point had a raven that was within a few points of matching a dual large rep apoc tank. but i cant remember what the setup was. and it did not run forever, but would last about 6-7 minutes before the cap reached 0.
never tried a scorpion.
i personally think they need to either ditch the -10% on relays. or lower it to -5%. armor tankers dont have to deal with that junk.

Nope sorry you're wrong, the Xlarge II is more cap efficient then the C5-L. Also an Xlarge II with amp is alot like 2x LARU II.

Sorry, you're right
And I have found a setup that might work, what do you guys think? 1x XLarge Shield Booster II 3x Shield Hardener (EM/KIN/THERM) 3x Cap Recharger II 1x Shield Boost Amp 3x CPR 1x PDS II
with 3 CPR I can maintain my cap and remove a Cap Recharger II for a Shield Boost Amp (to compensate the -% for shield boosting on CPR).
