Hi guys,
Ship equipment have a large variety who's awesome. But some modules have their meta 4 way more interesting than their meta 5 (t2 version).
Often the meta 5 have the same characteristics than meta 4 but cost more (CPU, capa use, ISK cost,... ). There is no advantage to use them, but their require more skills, time and competence to product and to use...
They don't need to be modify to buff T2 variante above the meta 4, that's cool the way it is (need to compare, think the fit in all details,...).
The single thing that need to be change, to justify this famous cost, is to make them more overload friendly. They should have a reduced heat dispersion and less heat damage taken compared to meta 4 and under. |

Once upon a time T2 was vastly cheaper than Meta 4, as the trade off, then CCP altered the drop rates. They need to unfix their fix. |

Could be. It's likely there's multiple sources of the problem at this point.
Drop rates have changed, sov has changed, and we've had some power creep. |

You mean the drop rates that were altered because T1 items were removed, (except shield boost amps and invulnerability fields,) so that there is actually a reason to produce T1 gear? MODULAR DRONES

Well they also raised the drop rates on high meta modules; increased supply leads to reduced prices, and as the prices or Meta 4 and T2 approach, it disincentives using the T2 modules in some cases which also means T2 manufacture is less of a good idea for anyone without steep material discounts. |

It used to be that using meta 4 would add a significant additional cost to your ship, which makes you thinks twice if the extra fittings are worth it. Now it might only add a couple thousand maybe a few million, so it becomes a no-brainer for anyone who isn't dirt poor. I think the key here is to make sure that T2 is always best. It's hardest to fit, is the most skill intensive, uses the most cap and so it should afford the beat results.
Isk should never be taken as a primary balancing factor. MODULAR DRONES

No. T2 shouldn't be the best. There are metas higher than 5. Like I said, balance faction/officer guns before this. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

Agree. Skills should matter, as the compromises one did when fitting his ship.
IMHO Tech II items should follow the pattern set for tech 2 ship (being specialized version of tech I). This happens to an extent with guns/launchers where the tech II ammo give tech II items a clear and absolute difference between Tech II and others. Higher meta guns can have better performance* with normal ammo but tech II perform a some tasks that are out of scope for other guns/launchers.
The ship PvP would be a lot different, and I think much more interesting, if tech II always gave a clear tactical advantage for one using it. How about warp scrambler II being the ones with longer range by means of sizeable falloff? Or tech II hardeners having a much longer cycle? Tech II Cap Booster having a much larger capacity? Improved Cloaking Device II having a very short recalibration time and/or scan resolution penalty?
*I Know [weapon] specialization skills make it false in some instances, however that its not the point of this argument. |

These are far more important to get balanced than officer and faction because they will be the baseline from which officer and faction gear progresses from. Not to mention far more meta and T2 modules are used than officer and faction. MODULAR DRONES
