Heya,
I'm sort of new here, got bored of being a rank 12 level 60 in WoW so decided to give Eve a trial, so far I like the no-carebear approach of the PvP in this game :D
So although in-game 'politics' usually is a touchy subject, its something that I like to know about :
"who/which faction controls what?"

Who is shooting who
Where everything related to politics is announced, discussed, trolled, and flamed to death, then beaten

Hehe tell me about it. Played WoW since beta, got my Marshal rank "PvP", which was extremely boring. PvP there had no risk, no meaning, very little thrill. Looking forward to get some good PvP action here :D

In game politics is a thing that i hate. I just wanna fight and not be involved in politics. But you gotta do what you gotta do right?

PvP in Eve is by far the best. It really means something when you run the risk of losing everything you have :)

You will. You sound like a person that likes some serious PVP. I'm sure you found a new home to stay.

People have said that a lot about WoW. No Risk is boring for mature minds.
Welcome to EVE, and try not to pay attention to the whiners, not too many here but we got them like anyone else.

Well, I wouldn't say they "control" those areas. Claims is a more reasonable term, as some of those alliances might have difficulty controlling certain areas.

A good definition of control is that you can't do anything major in that area without them coming down on you.
For example, if [5] controls a region, you won't be able to take a station there and keep it for long.
Control does NOT mean "not a single ship can sneak in no matter what!!11111" because that is impossible.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of someone sneaking in to mine crokite and sneaking out without being caught. Or the "controlling" group being unable to prevent an enemy fleet from penetrating their space.

Heh.. The Stain Empire vs "STAIN ALLAINCE" threads remind me why player-generated content is so great in this game. I'm looking forward to seeing how that one plays out.

Drop the jokes and puns on SA. Why? It's due an update by DT, and cause the forum mods said so.
(Although for some reason I don't think they'll upgrade the name from capitalized letters, sadly)

The two types of PvP are rather different. EVE is about collateral damage, tactics, and cold guts. WoW is more like CS, although you get to pay for it every month and it just doesn't have as much impact if you die as it does when you play CS.
