Just because the song changes note or rises or anything doesnt mean you have to change a scene my eyes almost melted from that. besides that nice footage but too much editing in my opinion never got to see any good fights just lots of Special effects.

yea you kinda have to fit rails. the fleet will never be point blank and never be beyond 20km so they're perfect for the job.

sorry if I made a couple of you dizzy, I guess it was intended to assault the senses :D
yea it would have been nice to include the full battles but there were around 6 or 7 fleet battles that night, one after the other, so I ended up with wayyy too much footage to fit into a 4min track. if i included everything we'd be looking at around an hour and iÆm not a huge fan of long-winded battlescenes for some reason, particularly if its set to a fast track.
I guess just wanted to make a cool rock video that would do the op some justice û I think we all had a blast and once again props to everyone that came along.

Damn good vidoe mate! I really liked the way you did the titles/story line at the bottom of the screen so it didnt block stuff.
Good mix of clean shots without overview crap and stuff with the overview crap.
Dont really like metallica, BUT, that was a perfect tune for the vid and it really rocked! Great timing of shots, camera work. Nice job!

Beautiful work. Pacing, cinematography, story...all were excellent. A lot of folks could learn a lot by watching this video before making a movie.
But you have to be a ringer. No one makes a video as superb as this thier first time out. Unless, like, your dad is Ron Howard or somthing.

Absolutely kick ass!
The opening minute sets the scene perfectly, and the font/title effects used are absolutely bang on the mark. When the guitars come striding in and kick you in the nuts, that's where it's at; you can't go far wrong with Metallica. Yeeeeaaahhh!
A most excellent effort and just the right length, I'm generally not a fan of films that have enormous amounts of GUI combat footage, but yours has enough kinetic oomph to blow my reservations aside. Here's to your next film!

I may be a bit biased on this one :p
But I got to say that this would serve as one excellent promo for CCP. Imagine seeing that advertised on telly (saw the ones on the Sci-Fi channel and they didnt compare at all to this), or gamesites.
I played the 2 week trial for EVE and was pretty much unimpressed, it took me a whole month in the end to eventually sign up, but if I had seen this video, it wouldn't have taken 2 seconds to sign up to EVE.
Great Job on the video Foto, I'm installing fraps to get you more footage matey. Can't wait for the next one!!

This is one the best video that I've seen in a long time.
I thought it was gonna be just another frig gank video, I cant even say it was that.
I'm glad I downloaded it.
And never have I seen such a good match of music to video as scene change to action change as this.
One of the most crisp captures also, damn it looked good.
You know what it was...it was a Metallica video showcasing EVE.

the only other video IÆve made was a bf1942:DC movie about a year or two ago but it was really rough tbh - back then I had to use a tv-out > vcr instead of fraps because my pc couldn't handle it and sequenced all the clips with a shareware gfx program (ironically) called æEveÆ.
other than that iÆm a fulltime guitarist so I spend a lot of time recording/sequencing audio tracks in Cubase VST, i suppose thats pretty much the same thing when you think about it: timelines, structure, fade-in/outs etc and I guess its left me with an instinct for song dynamics.

Top grade piece of filmage! The quality of the image was better than any I have seen since the Ravage tribute.
The music selection was 'okay', but with so many other good Metallica songs out there (Damage Inc would have fit perfectly) it's hard to choose which one best suits.
The ambient piece at the front of the vid was good, but I could not identify the source... ?

The cinematics were impressive. tbhth thats the only compliment i can give it, it seems i am the only person who found that vid to be totally lacking substance. It seemed like a bunch of shots of "here we are about to gank a smaller gang", "here we are a few minutes later about to engage another outgunned gang" but everytime theres about to be some action, it cuts away to some cinematic shot of an enyo. Theres some good editing in there, but overall it seemed to lack any form of "impressive combat abilities" which i guess is what i look for in an eve-vid.
This is totally just my personal opinion, and it seemes noone else in this thread thinks so, so i could be totally wrong. Just honest criticism.

i think Caybn E'vangel is right. im not saying the effects and edits are bad, but its a case of, 'how about 30 of us kill 5 of them' and when it does come to the battle where its fair. it cuts off... u start to lose or something
i dont think braggin about ur kills when u had odds of like 1:3 is a good thing.
just what i think and what i know from seeing the vid. |

1:3 odds? lol - y'see videos are editted. that means when it cuts from one shot to the other it can actually be the same fight. we didn't fight 20 people, suddenly stop and then fight 2 loners. and our gang was only 20, not 30.
there were 6 or 7 big fleet battles in total û it would have been impossible to fit all that into a 4min rock track without summarising them - iÆm just not a huge fan of hour long battle footage tbh that wasn't what i was trying to make.
the truth is that we were practically always outgunned. there were a lot of battleships in those gatecamps (look for the big squares) but you can't tell very easily because the overview creeps off-screen due to the crop.

actually that fleet battle is shown in its entirity at the end of the movie (when the killmails are playing). i purposely left it until the then because i shot the whole thing from the side and it looked crap - no we didn't lose, check yourself, we levelled the fleet with 0 losses.

Your tottally clueless, for that reason i will let you off. We engaged outnumbered many times, Hacs's are very versatial, they can do that with ease, which is why we took on bs fleets of up to 10-12 (and support), with only 8 longer ranged hacs, and won. But believe whatever you want, im pretty sure everyone else that watched the vid also saw the 154309683409 hostiles on the left hand side of the window.

When i watched that movie, i really didn't look at the numbers .. how many vs. how many others or what ships or whatever. This vid is just awesome, great cinematics and it just shows how much fun this game can make. It would make a great promo-vid.
And i guess that's what this video is about and how most people here understand it.
If i want to see good fights, fleetbattles or whatever, i'm going to watch something different.
But this video is about perfect footage, great angles .. and although i don't like Metallica that much, great music and awesome sync with the pictures. And i like it better than frapsing a fleetbattle from 100km away.
I just love this piece of artwork, that it really is.

The word "Domi" in hac fleets makes me cringe . But i still love jumping hac/frigs fleets into bubbled gates, getting out with 0 losses then coming back ontop of the sniper bs fleet \o/.
And yes Ryunoko i agree, i really enjoyed the movie, It was face pasted and i didnt mind at all that i didnt really get to see many of the battles, it was very well put together.

OK, looking at the vid now. the 1st battles is 14 of u guys V 6 of them (1.14mins into the vid) where u took 2 losses.
The next battle is 17 of u V 3 of them. (1.28mins into the vid)
The Next battle is 21 of u V 7 of them (1.31mins into the Vid)
After that theres just clips of a 1V1, but 1 of u is gettin remote armor repT. (cheater :P)
more clips untill 2.02mins into the vid.
because every1 is cloaked it LOOKS like a fair fight.13 of u 11 of them. then the vid cuts out the battle and u can see that there was 17 of u.
more clips,
Next battle. 9 of u 3 of them. (02.12mins)
Next battle. 35-36 of u 16 of them lol and ur right on top of most em them (2.20mins into vid)
next Battle. 15 of u 10 of them and the end of that battle wasnt shown..
at 2.47 into vid, they finaly outnumber u and u leg it lol.tho there was a lot of them. but still no fight :(
then there clips of u alot of u guys ganking a geddon.
then ganking a raven.. well from the looks of it everything after 2.55mins, u have like 5 of u ganking 1 of them.
So i think its safe to say, ur not always outnumbered and ur not the best coz u win outnumbered forces.. coz u dont and didnt.. from what the vid shows anyway.
Theres the facts. ^^
and why would u cut out the fighting in the vid.. its like goin to see a movie and they only showing u the 1st 5 mins then the last 5mins.. i like to see how well people can perform/cope while under fire :P but u cut the good stuff out :( tis what makes a video so fun 2 see.

WOW - that's probably the best editing I've seen in all EVE movies so far.
The picture quality and 'widescreen' effect could have been better but in all it's on my top5 of best alltime EVE movies.

That is a very nice video, fantastic editing and all round well made.
however you had the larger fleet in all engagements, i dont expect you to fight fair when you dont need to, ofcourse you would engage 1 BS with 3 rather than 1on1, everyone with a brain does, but dont claim to fight all outgunned when you dont, the times when fleets looked equalish the video either cut off very quickly or was very hazey in showing fleet size. I would have only had good things to say if you hadent claimed you were outgunned in almost every engagement when the video shows VERY clearly that you infact outgunned your enemies more.
But with that aside it is a good video, and you should continue to make them, you seem to have a talent

The rapid screen change during drum riff was brilliant. The smooth camera work is something I've never seen done before so well. The music choice was perfect for the footage you used. Thx man û it took about 4 days from first installing Premier and After Effects to actually posting it up. The editing was pretty much done in 2 afternoons so the rest of the time was spent trying to get my head around the programs.
