mkay, i am sort of new to battlecruisers... and i have heard that the brutix sucks compared to teh rest. I seem to have found out why... the Brutix lacks in powergrid for the weapons that would make it any good. Unless of course i use blasters... However, to fit the 7blasters i hear i should use... well i looked at their stats, they sucks... for the "Most powerfull turrent" as per its description, well the damage mod sucks. Then i look at railguns, supposadly not as powerfull as blasters... freakin 2-3x damage mods... mkay thats wonderfull cept the powergrid usage is evil on the good ones... Ok so i settle myself, decide to use 4 250mm coil guns... With the rest of my setup it would seem that i cant fit it.. by 49... yes that 4 9 power grid :-( I really like my setup, i have plenty of power recharge, a 800mm tungsten plate, med armor repair... so on so forth
Im stuck now, I can train one more level to increase powergrid, and that woudl work. but im still not happy with only 4 turrents... I was wanting 5 at least since people seem to use 7!!!
I hear about how powerfull 7 blasters and an MWD are... but the 25% reduction of capaciter bank really would hurt me woulnt it? sombody help me out with some advice...

Well for starters, when you look at a gun the damage mod tells only half the story.
The other part is rate of fire.
What you really want to see is damage over time (DOT)
Take the damage the ammo does*damage mod/ROF = DOT
Now you can compare the guns
The rest of your questions come down to the art of ship setups. It also depends on your preferred flying style. Blasters are close range, rails long range etc etc.

Potential DoT is 1 thing. tracking, optimal, fall off.
Really the choice of guns is an art. As an example imo the best battleship hybrids are dual 250 rails. Why? I m a lvl 3 mission runners. Those guns have enough range to stay out of range of most opponents, good tracking vs frigates and enough damage to take cruisers out fast. Also they allow me to fit a good passive shield/active armor defense.
If I m correct I can fit a full load of 200 mm T2 rails with a good armor tank and good med slots on my brutix.
Off course after the NPC pirate patch everything might change again.

Methinks you were looking at Medium sized Rails and Small Blasters. Of course a small gun is going to have a smaller damage mod than a medium one. It's the above advice that makes them "better".

Edited by: Krollji on 05/09/2005 17:54:02 Fadm, train "Weapons Upgrades" and then possibly "Advanced Weapons Upgrades" skills. For turrets and launchers they lower powergrid useage per each level you skill up. The impact on power grid usage per turret (for mounting purposes) can be quite dramatic.
