I was in a .4 belt with my Omen and was targeted by another cruiser I targeted him aswell and we fought for a bit then I warped away to a station where I was destroyed by a sentry gun? wtf? I did the shooting in a belt in .4 space why did I get sentry ganked as I tried to dock for repairs? Im conufused fill me in.

If u attack sum1 in 0.1 to 0.4 u get flagged for 15-20mins if any sentries get u in range within that time u can say goodbye to ur ship...

Yep like he said above if you attack someone you are flagged for 15-20mins, you are then free game for anyone to attack you and if you get in range of senty guns they will kill you too.
If someone attacks you first you can defend yourself and you wont be flagged.

No. No. No. Not at a planet. If you ganked a corp mate of mine, and then hid at a planet, we'd find you in a minute or two with no more than a scanner. Use your head.
Make a safe spot or five in the system.
Another tip (for the heck of it) Don't just sit in a safe spot and talk smack.. while you are talking smack, we are launching scan probes you will find us up yer back-side. Move around.. make us work for it.

Similar thing happened to me last night. I was in a belt shooting rats with another player. Couldnt resist as he looked newer than me. I attacked, totally messed it up (had the wrong missiles loaded!) he warped away. Feeling pretty pleased with myself I thought "right time to go buy the right missiles this time" and warped to a station. Boom! "ah right I thought, forgot about that!"
Lesson learned!
