OK, i have just totally reloaded windows xp onto my computer, downloaded directx 9, latest nvidia drivers etc. However, when i run Eve it is VERY jerky. Any suggestions as to what this might be and how to fix it please?

Just try reloading the EVE client.
Mine did the same thing. Just reload the client and check that FPS counter isn't jerking (press Ctrl+F at the login screen). If the counter is steady the game will run ok.

Hi, I rolled back the nvidia drivers to a previous one i had and that seems to have totally fixed the problem. Thanks for your help though :)

BTW, what version of the nVidia driver did you rollback to?

66.93 I hadn't updated for a while, but it seems to be working well!

Oh, well.
After todays patch, I can't seem to get mine not to jerk. It jerks even worse now.
Rolling back to 66.63 isn't a option for me as that version does'nt support my 7800GTX.
Does anybody know how this jerky-ness can be resolved. Or where I might look for solutions ?

Heh ive got the same exact issue now on my new machine. Glad to hear its not just me.. been tearing my hair out of my head the past two days trying to figure out wtf was wrong. Im running..
amd a64x2 4800+ MSI k8n neo4 platinum sli mobo 2 gig ocz ddr 400 2x evga 7800gtx running sli audigy 4 platinum
Used to get jerkiness ingame after alot of use and opening and closing the client before, but that was always solved via reboot. Ended up installing the a64x2 drivers off the amd site but it only seems to make it worse. Cant figure out whats going on , be sitting in a station docked watching the fps counter jump between 300 fps and 50 fps every other second. Did a full reformat and clean isntall of everything and it still does it. Yet i tried installing WH40k DOW and it worked just fine. Really at a loss here.

This problem seems to be with our cards. I've got a 7800GTX as well and I have the same problem.
I'm at the moment busy with a GM trying to sort out the problem
Take a look a this thread, it's a bit more relevant : Thread

try lowering the graphics in the game, so that they are not us much taxing, second if you are pvp, and start geting lag, jurkines just turn of the sound, after the sound is off it works much batter, especialy ifthere is a blob fight.
