On www.mmorpg.com EVE is the second highest ranked mmorpg now, only a tiny bit behind guildwars, it can only mean good things for EVE if we can get it to number one.
If you want to see eve at the top, create an account there and rate EVE up, if you know what guildwars and wow are like, you can lower their ratings aswell.
After creating an account you need like rank 5 of 100 before you can rate a game, it only takes a day or 2 to get, i did it by making or replying to a post on the forums and logging into to mmorpg.com a few times a day, both are ways of raising your rating.

tomorrow your post will appear on mmorpg posted by some WoW and guild wars fans saying that Eve players are a bunch of looser trying their best to increase Eve rating. You know saying 'lower WoW and Guild War rating if you know what those games are like' is like automatically concluding that those games are bad and a decent Eve player can not possibly play either of them which in my opinion is wrong.
No offence, but please think about it in the future.

Actually I have been playing wow from the start and still am. First off, it's hard to compair the two since, imo, they focus on a different public and offer a completely different playing experience.
I have to agree with Orvy here that the way in which you discard the game leaves no room for discussion. Millions of players can't be wrong.

They arnt wrong, they are just the masses who are new to the mmorpg genre and dont know any better.
I got a link somewhere on a good post by a member of sun guild about it, ill try to find it. It enlightens you on about how wow isnt really a game because in wow there are no losers, only winners.

You need to wakeup, EVE is the one game where you can play for 2 years and still have lots of stuff to do. Guildwars is a game where you can play for a couple of weeks and have "won the game" The only thing after that is pvp in set matches that have no actual point to them aside from the initial fun but that fun soon goes away.
I should know, i played guildwars for quite a while, i was one of the dynasty warriors and you might have seen my name winning Hall of heroes every now and then, however i dont think i shall reveal my name.
I've also played wow to level 60, among numerous other chars ive levelled, its got a easy to achieve, yet stale and pointless endgame that makes you wonder what the hell it was that you found so fun in the first place.
Infact ive played mmorpgs since the dawn of ultima online, which was the first real mmo ever, that was a damn good game until they removed most of the risk involved with playing, at which point everyone became a winner and lost its style. EVE is one of the few mmorpgs to exist that offer a real competitive game world experience.

People sometimes leave games after two years of playing, that's no surprise. But the fact remains EVE's subscriber base is still increasing steadily.

Guild Wars isnt even a real mmorpg world, its not suscription based, and you dont all interact within the same world, its like lots of 3d chatrooms, how it can be classed under the same category as mmorpg is absurd.
Was Diablo an mmorpg? No
Are Guildwars and Diablo exactly the same style of game? Yes - only diablo used a text based chatroom.
Neither are real game worlds that offer a massively multiplayer game world experience.

Because you will continue to pay every month for your char skils until the day that CCP switchs off the server or goes on EVE2 path. What what is the way to keep you paying? (Well I think that its obvious)
Are you telling me that I've been sleeping on EVE in the last 3 years, playing this game every single day?
When EVE stops to be funny is when it becomes to be a working game... then it becomes to be pointless. And people go away from pointless games. THIS IS HAPPENING!
Just don't tell me that EVE is unique, sublime utopic game. Because simple is not!
EVE is getting more a work game than a game to have fun. For this reason that people is getting away from it, suspending accounts.
Believe me I like EVE. But EVE was better than it is today.

In that case we should all stop playing guildwars and wow, aswell as any other of the mmorpgs because they might switch of the server.
EVE has massive room for expansion, if any game is likely to get a "2" its going to be some crap like guildwars.

Well I guess that you could catogerized your sell as:
"I'm EVE fanatic so nothing else beside EVE is a valide or either exist!"
This would save me to keep reading and replying to this topic.
But let me also add...
So any point against EVE is a null point... therefore EVE continue to be the utterly upper dupper game where every player is "happy as Larry" and nothing happens until the day that CCP switch off or delete all the suspended accounts to show the reall number of players and sub-accounts.

This, kids, can only be called abject stupidity. EVE is not a game where everyone is 'happy as larry'. Fly into HED-GP and see how happy you are.
ALL games are pointless. They wouldn't be games if they weren't. EVE happens to take things seriously, and is not really meant for the casual player.
Does this make it not 'funny'? No, it means YOU don't like it. EVE happens to be the best game I have ever played. I enjoy it highly. My opinion is just as valid as yours. You can't argue that point so don't even bother.
Finally, what exactly is the point of WoW or GW? To play, pointlessly, until they turn the server off or you get bored.
Why do you even bother paying for an account if you hate EVE, anyway?
EDIT - and for the record, GW is NOT an MMORPG. I believe the term the company who run GW themselves use is CORPG - competitive online RPG. I REPEAT, THEY SAID THIS THEMSELVES.

That first argument doesn't make sense because in that case, playing any online game is pointless because they'll all close down anyway. Besides, EVE has at least five expansions worth of content waiting, which means at least seven more years of EVE activity, IIRC.
I can't even make sense of the rest of what you're trying to say, though. If you're going to argue with someone in a language not your own, at least make sure your post makes sense before posting, please.

I'm no EVE fanatic, i play whatever i enjoy the most, ive played all kinds of mmorpgs in a search to find one i like (i only ever really liked ultima online, all the rest ive played in between that and just got stale, up until EVE, i find myself playing it still after 2 years and im glad i made the right choice.
I dont care for the eve storyline, i dont care for spacegames, infact magical fantasy games are my prefered style of mmorpg, however i find myself prefering EVE, now that says something about the game as a whole.

If you're not having fun on EVE then you're doing something wrong, and EVE easily cr-acked the 14,000 mark tonight heading towards 15,000 so you're wrong there too.
Anyway, looking at the top 7 on the main page, I have to say that EVE is in a league of it's own. The others appear to be hack and slash leveling games, which is nothing like what EVE is.
It's now ranked number 2 but the other games are of a totally different genre, if you look at it correctly EVE is the #1 space game going.
EDIT: *****ed (c r a c k e d) is a bad word, you have to love CCP's automated forum nanny.

I have played Eve since launch, Lineage II since launch, PlanetSide since launch, Guild Wars since launch, EverQuest II off and on, FFXI off and on, City of Heroes off and on, WoW off and on and a few other un-mentionables these past few years.
Every single one of these games I have left (at least once  ) due to its lacking something ie. PvP, quests, character variety or just plain old too many botters/ebayers.
I have yet to find a perfect game and honestly dont expect to. Its simply a matter of which game currently appeals to what I'm looking for at the moment.
Today its Eve, for the 3rd time (yeah, left it twice already and this last break was about 10 months long  ) Here's to hoping for that ultimate game.

Im new to eve - and I really enjoy it so far.
I first tried the 14 day account, and then upgraded since I was enjoying it so much.
I rate it above WoW and I havent played Guild Wars.
I've had nothing but fun so far. I agree that giving the other games negative ratings, isnt the way to go. If EVE is as great for everyone that plays it then EVE should be able to win on its own. And I also have noticed that more people appear to be playing.
I hope that EVE will be around for a lot longer, as I really really want to see what it has to offer.

I respect what you're saying but you know they do the same thing.
It all come down to the best games most people like will get the most support from their fans.
Right now WoW I'm sure some WoW players are felling the grind and coming to mmorpg.com and warning people about it. That's what mmorpg is good for.
People are mostly saying EVE is good and they are right, and I was glad for the input before I played my self.
It is best not to say it in a post here to put down WoW though yes I'm sure it is not a good idea to just put down WoW to up EVE either way.
I would only tell the truth my self in order to help people out. WoW is for kids and grinding and Fantasy lovers. Not for me.
Either way who cares about WoW and Guild Wars anyways, they are really for kids and people who like Fantasy games and have no ware else to go.
Thanks goodness for EVE, finally my game has come! :)

I have tried several online games. And the only one I stil play is EVE.
Guild Wars, fun for 1 month then you lose interest.
WoW, 2 days and I got bored running and running and running.
Anarchy Online, actually had me playing for 2 and a half months. Must have been the sci fi theme.
What does this tell you about me. Guess I just lean more to flying space ships and actually have a chance of loosing my uber battleship, and not spawning back in Amarr with everything intact with a little dent in it that I just pay 2 mill to repair and im fit for fight again.
but thats just me

People get bored of games. It happens. Just because one person has gotten bored of EVE, does not mean everyone has suddently gotten bored of EVE. ;)

That is an excellent question. I for one have absolutely no idea, because after playing both, I can declare EVE to be infinitely superior. In terms of complexity, nonlinearity, difficulty, and community EVE has Guild Wars beat in every way. Instancing turned out to be a terrible idea in a lot of ways. The player run market in Guild Wars is a crippled, shattered carcass and overall, the game is far, far too short to enjoy. The massive instancing and generally meaningless PvP ensure that it will never have anything anywhere near the amount of player-driven story and content EVE has had, regardless of how long it continues or how often it has played.
In short, EVE is the better game.
