Have you ppl noticed all them sys that have been bugged and warned about tonight ?
I have never seen so many warnings about bugged systems in all my time in Eve and I have played alot, could this be because of the big battle in MN5N-X few hours ago ???
If that is the case then I think the server will go offline tomorrow since we will be having even a bigger fight and most likely this will happen every day until either side gives in
So I ask, when will you guys make the game run smoothly enough for 100 ships plus 200 drones fight it out without having a 10-30 sek lag when the ships come out of warp and having almost 20 sek from the time you start locking until you can start shooting your weapons, I love this game but this really isnt good
So b4 ALOT of ppl start packing up and leaving the world of Eve (some have done that now) you should fix the things that are important not spend days fixing some billboard or secured cannisters, I am not saying those small things you add to the game are not needed, there are just other BIGGER things to fix

Your seeing the warnings not because more is happening, but because they are trying to communicate. Well more like trying to lighten their workload.
The warnings are to stop people from entering area's and getting STUCK. Not that it's a new problem. Notice the time, and the amount of time the servers have been up. I think it's getting worse and quite reminiscent of E&B.
The more they warn of the problem the less people get stuck and fewer petitions about being stuck they have to deal with.

Too late. But not for this reason alone.

Edited by: Intruders on 27/07/2003 04:27:06 Now lets see, in an imaginary war with a system full of 80 battleships and cruisers, counting an average of each weapon slots for each unit around 6 to 7, and adding the ECM ECCM slots for each ship at around 1 or 2 per unit, we could have 7 to 9 different identification signals that have to be send to server during the fight and back, for each unit, that would sum from 500 to 700 different requests for every time a weapon refires and a module reactivates. It seems this ammount of send/receive requests is difficult to be handled by Eve servers, if we look at how much big battles lagged so far from the info we have from the participants. I dont know about other systems failing because of send/receive overload in a tottal different system so I cannot speculate. I wish someone with a better knowledge of server/client interaction could enlighten us here.

are we dealing with lag here or a cpu problem?
One thing I noticed in a 3d benchmark demo (forget the name) there was a lot of fighter planes having a battle, when the camera zoomed out to view the entire fleet, the fps was really bad.
Same thing in this battle, it seemed like fps but was prob lag, any thoughts?

Same thing in Earth and Beyond in the notorius Tada-O gates raid in several E&B servers, lag=reduce of framerate.

Currently even receiving of chat data lags the game like hell and some arses are using it to lag a solar system by spamming the chat.
Not to talk about random link deads and CTDs, like the SI fleet encountered it yesterday.

My beta corp tried a moderate corp war with the then taosp corp towards the end of the beta. They outnumbered us and we halfway expected to lose, but armageddon day was only a week or two away, so we decided what the heck. They had a number i think in the high 20's and we had in the low 20's. We warped into their location and all hell broke loose. At least half of our guys ctd'd all at the same time, and wading through some of the "we pwned j00!" comments, found that some of theirs did too. Now sure, that was beta way back when, but who knows how much that may still apply. What happens when about 50 ships meet and try to start to fight, for us, half of us ctd'd and came back w/o our ships, and at least a few of taosp did too from what we could tell. What would make everyone crash at the same time?
