This thread was inspired by that question about my own corp. I like it and all but never bothered to ask about the meaning behind the name. And when the question popped into my head, none of my corp members were online to answer. Of course.
But now I'm curious about the rest of Eve. What what does your corp name mean? How did your corp come up with it?

Mine came from my desire to kill all s.m.u.r.f's. Got to keep it simple, as I'm none too smart. -=-=-=-=- "Gargamel alone is best" - Bill Gates |

Originally it was going to be Dark Angels, a name I took from Warhammer 40k. But Space Wolves (yet another name from Warhammer) suited our style of play much more.

Doesnt take much brain power to work out our name, whilst there is a certain "Monty Python" feel to it it isn't meant to be a humorous name.
The agenda, well......none to far from your own corp's Lex I would guess

Omnitrend (my corp's name), is a tribute to an old 8 bit and 16 bit series of games called Universe. The Omnitrend's Universe games were space games where you outfitted your ship with different tech levels of equipment, bought different ships, traded goods, transported passengers, mined for ores, and, if you so chose to, pirated. Sound familiar? And this was back in 1984. Omnitrend's Universe clearly had an indirect influence on Eve, if not a direct one. Omnitrend's Universe also had a large influence on Trade Wars, so if Trade Wars is the father of Eve, Omnitrend's Universe is certainly the grandfather of Eve.
You can learn more about the history of Trade Wars from this page which chronicles it extensively (including the mention of the large influence of Omnitrend's Universe on its development):
http://www.eisonline.com/twhistory/
When I first started playing Eve, it reminded me so strongly of Omnitrend's Universe that I wanted my corporation's name to be a tribute to that much earlier game. However, "Universe" didn't sound right at all for a corp name, nor "Omnitrend's Universe", so I just went with Omnitrend. |

Everlasting Vendettta... because its all in the name. This name was born out of previous RPG style games and has stuck with a small group of us. We came to eve and adopted our same die hard philosophy to this game. We chose Minmatar which coincdentally fit with the RP aspect of the game, though we are not racial. It means we will never give up, we will never take it lying down and we enjoy fighting to the end.
No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.

I always wanted it to be Supreme Headquarters, Interstellar Espionage and Law enforcement Division, or S.H.I.E.L.D. But some people thought there was no room for Marvel in this game. --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. Edited by: Ziggy Startrail on 28/07/2003 10:49:43 Corp name: "Elite Foundation"
Our name was chosen from the old computer game which EvE is based on, and the great Foundation triology by Isaac Asimov ( He should have kept it a triology b.t.w.). Save the whales, feed the hungry, FREE THE MALLOCS. |
