Edited by: Kav Tja on 07/09/2005 14:28:33 Edited by: Kav Tja on 07/09/2005 14:27:51 Hi all.
I have to buy my first BS. I'm better skilled with Drones and Gunnery, and i like pvp so i was considering a Megathron.
But... i'm not sure.
Reading forums i noticed that megathron is not considered a very good BS. And, by the other hand, i cannot do only pvp, i have to use it for npc too (i'm in a 0.0 sector).
So... seeing other players playing and reading the forums this is my impression: megathron is not that good; you must have 'crazy' skills to use it good and cannot fit it to tank if you want to make good damage (or cannot make good damage if want to tank...); maybe a dominix should be better...
Raven seems to be THE BEST BS: you can do anything you want and need less skills.
Am i wrong? If no, it's better for me to skill rockets? (missile launcher operation tree)
synthesis I need a BS to npc hunting in 0.0 and to fighting in pvp.
Could someone please give me some suggestions?
Thank you :)

Well since you're specialized for gunnery and drones, go for megathron. I can tell you right now, it is a VERY powerful ship. Heavy Drones + 7 T2 Neutron Blasters = Dead anything
And about using less skills...All BS now require alot of skills, even the raven. Megathron or Dominix is your best bet.

The Megathron is a skill hungry ship.
It is more difficult to get an effective balance between damage and tank when using the Mega. However I feel that once you have the skills and stuck an effective balance very few ships in eVe are as rewarding or as effective to fly.
My advice is that when choosing a ship to learn to fly choose one that best suits you style of play. I know this piece of advice is repeated numerous time by numerous people... but that is because it is true.

My opinion for the person posting this topic: since you are buying 1. bs i doubt that you have decent skills to pvp in one. (i could be completely wrong, ofcourse).
I advise you to go for domi, because it is easier to fit and 10+ heavy drones will save your @ss many times.
Gallente are not bad race at all, just need a lot of skills, game & playerwise.

I'd go for a domi.
1) Cheaper 2) IMHO Better for NPCing, vs all ship sizes, due to massive drone space; 3) IMHO Better tank AND firepower at the same time (specially considering some not-that-great skills) 4) PVP-wise (vs only a few enemies) a NOSsing domi rules :P 5) Cheaper

It all depends on what you're looking for in a ship. For instance, if you're looking for a ship that's good at ganking, pick the 'geddon. If you're looking for a drone-*****, pick the dominix. Tank? Apoc. Burst damage and ability to switch damage types? Tempest.
As for the latter, it's probably the most versatile battleship in the game. With an 8/5/6 slot layout and bonuses to projectile rate of fire and damage, it can perform many roles well. It has the slots to either shield- or armor-tank, use EW, set up as a sniper with damage mods, set up as a shield-tanker with damage mods, set up for close range (autocannons), set up for long range (1400mm howitzer artillery), etc.
One thing to be aware of before purchasing a tempest is that your damage-per-second will be slightly less than that of lasers and hybrids, but the ability to switch to a damage type your opponent is weak against definitely compensates for this. With tech 1 guns, I'd say the tempest is on par with the other races' battleships in terms of damage output if it's using the right ammo, but where it really shines is when fitted out with tech 2 guns - its damage per volley is insane (19x damage multiplier, anyone?).
Another thing to be aware of is that, with all of the different setups available, the Tempest is one of the most skill-intensive battleships in the game. You need gunnery skills, missiles skills, shield skills, and armor skills - and EW skills are quite helpful, too. -Wrayeth

Edited by: Arleonenis on 07/09/2005 22:47:04 dom all the way to go: cheap, versatile (could use ew, shield tank or armor tank, could be used as blaster ship, nos ship, miner). strong tanker, nice damage dealer (if you include the drones), could use many diffrent setups for many diffrent roles, cheap (i mentioned it already?)
mega... inferior to tempest as sniper, inferior to arma as ganker, inferior to apoc as tanker, hard to fit... nothing special (without loads and loads of sp)

Thank you so much for your answers and advices.
Now i'm considering a Dominix more than a Megathron. The mega maybe will be the next step when i will be more skilled :)
