I agree with Gyrn Fzirth, this ship was definelty made for autocannons...fit t2 800s, maybe a combo with 425s since ammo types can make them the same range, and a t2 ab to always keep at optimal, and armor tank it if you're gonna use it for missions...

Nobody has noticed that if you use 5 1400mmIIs and fit a gyro instead of the pdu or rcu you do more damage over time then?

I had intended to use my machariel for hunting belt rats, and was thinking of setting it up almost the same as my current tempest but with an extra gyro2 in the extra lowslot that I get. My setup would then be:
high: 6x 1400 t2, 2 assault launchers mid: cap recharger2, ab2, tracking comp 2, sensor booster2, large shieldbooster2 low: 6x gyro2, 1 rcu2

Now that these ships are common place (me got one) I wondered what a cost no issue setup would be for level 4 missions, I know some of you run these babies on missions so any mach pilot offering help would be appreciated.
ta!
(Angel specific missions for now thanks, and I like to armour tank rather than shield but I believe this ship may swing towards the latter, I just like to hold the cap with the tank going rather than relying on cap boosters - but if cap n shiled boosters make this ship bomb proof then so be it )

I think it's a waste to have a ship like that and not use it in PvP.

Armour tank and a few gyros (no more than 3) in the lows, ECM or other EW in the mids and whatever guns you like in the highs. Should be good for pvp. For missions, it doesn't really matter what you run. If it works, good for you.

I completely agree mate, but tbh being called primary in fleet battles is no joy cos you got a half billion ship. It would just give the hostile fleet bragging rights. Half the forums going yay for having big balls and the other half sayin stoopid taking expensive ship into battle and you should have bought 5 tempests instead. I would have to agree with the latter as I would be sorely ****ed if I got ganked especially with the current empire wars.
Anyways I wasnt getting at that I wanted to know what would be the ultimate setup to have some fun in. Think of it this way, the tempest would be like my everyday work car/van and the mach is what I get into for a bit of country road driving at the weekend to unwind after a hard weeks work, hope you understand.

ive got one and i switch between gank, sniping, and auto cannon setups, on initial inspection it looks like a sniper specialist, but with the tracking bonus and gal bs4 or 5 and it bears out what 2 people have already said, its an autocannon ship, i prefer 650/425 II's tho sometimes those 800s miss too much for my liking, as for ganking well with regular kit you can get over 19x dam mod, even greater with faction and officer.

Why would you torture a ship like that with a fleet battle?
I mean PvP, real fighting, not just scrolling down the Overview making pods.

I agree dude in an earlier draft of my post I put in 1vs1 great if you can get it (forgot to put it in the edited version ), I know one of my former corp members got his baahlgorn raped by an enemy mach - this is fine, I just wouldnt like to fly around empire in it with empire wars against the five etc where more than likely I jump into a system only to find a camp on the other side and boom goes 500million. I reiterate 1vs1 great, getting ganked in empire not so great. I hope this is put to bed now.

For Missions I would do
6 x D.650 IIs, 2 Cruise
1 100MN AB II ( or better ), 1 Web, 3 Capcharger IIs
1 Large Accomo or better, 1 Med rep II, 3 Hardners, 2 Relays
--- For 0.0 I would do
6 x D.425 IIs, H.Nos, 1 Officer Cloak
1 100MN AB II, 1 Web, 3 Capcharger IIs
1 Large Accomo or better, 1 Med Rep II, 3 Hardners, 2 Relays
--- For PvP I would do a gank'n'spank 1400 II/Officer setup with a tackler

Not true. If you have 5x t2 1400mm howitzer your 'extra' damage mod needs to infer a 20% bonus to dps to make up for the lack of a 6th.
Even if you only had one gyrostab II previously the second would only give an approximate 19.9% bonus to dps. Since most sniper tempests generally have more than one gyrostab you can assume that the 'extra' damage mod is not going to give anywhere near the extra 20% dps needed to make 5x t2 1400mm howitzers worthwhile.

Sigs must be smaller then 24000 bytes. 24000 bytes is not 24 kb. Ur Ishtar one is 24197 bytes... Way too big... So check the facts and remake ur sig. I think some moderator should stick his paws out.

Contact Inspiration to know how to totally screw up that gunboat and shield tank it. Contact me to know how to lose it because you'll be full damage and a light shield tank that doesn't last.
Or just armor tank it, Put the crappiest large autocannons you can find, put cruise launchers, ab, cap II's. webber, 2 rep, 3 hardener, 2 cap relay. AND hope it works LOL. (never tested it but it sounds bad so i won't try it).
I don't know why i didn't wait for more people to reply just so i could swear at them for being idiots... I'll be the idiot this time.
yep, i knew it, my setups never fit right. oh well. trying to kit for max damage with the biggest guns is just something CCP dosent want you to do i guess.
noo what ccp doesnt want us to be able to do is set up stupid fittings. that fitting was stupid =) sorry. 7 gyros is very similar to 3-4 gyros, just like any damage mod. the penalty becomes too much. -nove Stay the Course! |

This is the setup I use, I can one repper most missions, though usually need both when there's more than 5 HAC rats in a group.
High 6 x Dual 650mm 2 x Domination Cruise (you can put NOS if you prefer to drop the CPRs in low for gyros, or smartbomb on close range cruiser / friggie heavy missions)
Meds 1 x True Sansha Web (14km range, Domi web is 15km but more iskies) 4 x Cap Recharger Eutectic (I should really go tech2 some day) (you can also go 3 x Cap, 1 x Lif 100mn Ab)
Lows 2 x T2 Large Armor Rep 2 x T2 Energized Adaptive Nano plating (faction or officer when you can afford them ftw) 1 x T2 dmg specific active hardener (explosive or therm usually) 2 x Cap Power Relay (or 2 x Gyro if using 2 x NOS in your other high slots)
It works really well for me. The rate of fire on the dual 650s is around 2, they track better than the 800s so you can actually kill webbed frigs.
In short, it shreds up any level 4 mission.
I got gallente and minmatar BS @ L4, and tech2 large auto spec at L2. Going to train that to L4 shortly.
So far my top (structure) hit is around 480, with hits mostly between 100 and 200 dmg. Using EMP L, the dual 650s will still hit to around 35km, though the sweet point is around 3.5km. __________________________________ Are you a mission runner?
