I know that a ishtar can setup a great tank while reducing ships to trash with it's drones, but it has 3 turret slots and a nice +25% to med hybrid damage so... it is a good idea to put medium turrets in an ishtar or it is a waste of pg and slots? -----------------------------

Waste. You want to be able to still have a backup vs frigs/assaults whatever. Medium guns do more damage of course yet you gimp everything else to complete this task. I dono how many Mediums you could fit but prob not 3? Either way, tracking is a important part in gunnery. It reflects how well you hit as well if you hit. So there is no reason not to use small blasters/rails on your setup as backups or support for your drones.
I would def not put a larger arty on my Wolf/Jag. It would never hit a Inty/Frig that got in orbit with MWD/AB outside of Webrange.

I¦ve got 3 x t2 dual 150's on my ishtar, maybe it¦s not the optimal setup but i¦ve found that it really makes a difference when you¦re fighting difficult npc-bs's...

Blaster ishtar is a damn scary ship. With 15 light drones it already has its frig defence. With 3 tech2 heavy blasters its dmg output surpasses that of an deimos, especially as you can chose ur damage type with the drones. Try an 800 plate, 3 heavy electron IIs and 2 medium NOS. Its lethal

I've got a few more days before i get into my Ishtar, but I'm thinking of going with 3 x Dual 150s (Tech IIs when i get the skills) and 2 x Med NOS.
The difference between the two types of weapons isn't so great (except for the range):
Tech II Dual 150s CPU - 35 PG - 84 Optimal Range - 14.4km ROF - 3.9 seconds DMG - 1.8
Tech II Electron Blasters CPU - 33 PG - 105 Optimal Range - 2.4km ROF - 3 seconds DMG - 2.1
For me it's easy to go duals as I'm sporting a full rack of them on my Brutix atm, and they are very good, and I have more PG to play around with. Plus with an optimal of around 8 - 9 km with antimatter, you can drain, web, and pound from a nice distance .
