I voted, though it felt much like a presidential election. I wasn't really excited by any of the candidates this year so I voted for people that seemed least likely to be annoying (which means no Goons).
Anyway, who knows. I might end up pleasantly surprised by the next CSM. CCP Sreegs is my favorite developer. |

Not voting until it's proven that they serve a purpose. Putting a soapbox inder someone so he can scream his idea a bit louder is not what I consider a good system to vote into.
The game seems much more run by subscription than good idea so the only CSM member who can have any power in there is the one who would get abcked with thousands of "I quit" messages to force CCP's hand.

Can we sell our vote? You might actually try reading the CSM notes at some point. Lots of big words though, sorry. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Normally I would say I pushed the botton, but it was more of a "I had to search for my own name then finally found it and did that thirteen more times."
Still voted though, and there's a few nifty aids like this one for people who haven't yet: http://bit.ly/11sbEVs James Arget for CSM 8! Wormholes and the Player Perspective

Not sure if you have ever bothered to follow the CSM, read the minutes, or anything else, but they do indeed serve a purpose. CCP uses them as a sounding board for secret projects they're working on, as a less troll-some way of asking about player needs, as a mining ground for ideas, and as a PR tool.
CCP does take the CSM's opinions and advice into account. That doesn't mean that the CSM's direction is always followed, but they do at least listen. I'm sure that past CSM members would vouch for that.
If CCP didn't find the CSM to have some real benefit to Eve then they wouldn't be spending the time and money doing all of this. It's expensive in terms of man hours and additional spending. CCP Sreegs is my favorite developer. |

Not a lot perhaps, but a damn-sight more than other MMOs grant. Like i said in my post the CSM isn't exactly going to revolutionise the game CCP will still roll out what they want its just a pretty way of making out that they listen :P These days the game is more about getting subscriptions on the table, if that means dumbing down the game and making it safer then they will (and in several instaces have) roll out the changes they see fit Then might i suggest you put your vote behind a candidate like Psychotic Monk (a highsec tear extraction specialist) to send CCP the message that they shouldn't make it safer? Silence=consent.
Also I voted.

I don't understand how to place my votes. It's very confusing and there are apparently no instructions. When I drag numbers and candidates, I can't place candidates on top of numbers or vice versa. What am I doing?? Am I the only one having this problem?? Mittani, where have you gone to? I miss you :( |

Thing is it's window dressing.
Other games don't need a layer of fake government like this. They just vote with their wallets. WoW lost 1.7mil players over Cata, Blizzard cut over 600 jobs...yeah, they listened.
The bottom line is the almighty dollar. Everything else is a song and dance.

Interestingly enough my vote is for psychotic Monk. I never endorse the "dark side" such as suicide ganking and safari but his reasons for doing so reached out too me. This is a game of interactions between players. If no one is interacting what is the point. Any one could get behind this

Yeah, I voted.
It took 2 hours to me to read the platform of most candidates, take the vote match twice etc etc; but in the end I am proud of having voted.
The problem I see is that you have to make too many choices, you don't just set your best candidate but you have to think to the others. The amount of people voting for CSM will be at an all time low in my opinion. |

I voted for 14 and quite honestly, I only recognized half of them which I picked first.
Do I like them? Not particularly.
Also I don't remember the order I placed them.
Does it matter?
Any way to check?

Glad that you included that quote.
Before stepping in the booth voters will be quite liberal with their choices. When they enter it to finally vote, they vote more conservatively (time and time again it shows in elections).
XYZ can claim they voted for ABC...but we really don't know.

There were four candidates that stood out for me; simply because they consider EVE as a whole rather than treating the game as if there are different servers for different security levels. One of those is active on the forums, one of them writes a well thought out blog about the game and the other two are Goons with what reads like good platforms. And I voted the same on all 4 my active accounts.
Good luck to everyone in the running for the CSM; I hope to see what guidance you can offer CCP over the coming year and thank you for standing up to take this responsibility. |
