my new taranis just poped from a dual-webber 
ill never start my attack by orbiting at 500m again  well you learn by your mistakes

1. Attributes were actually important (got lucky, as they aren't to bad)
2. Caldari HAC's were teh weakzor
3. PvP is the only way to go. (stupid mining for my 1st 6 months)

If you get your first omen blown up by 3 Zombie gate campers. Don't borrow isk to get another one and fly through the same gate camp.

Oh, here's a good one.
If you get a ship blown up in deadspace, mark your can, cancel the mission and then go back for your can. Instead of taking progressively smaller, less capable ships back into the slaughter, just to get them blown up too.
Not that I've done that, ofc.

Into about 6 months ago, I didn't know you could drag charges into your guns and boosters from the fitting screen. Oh, all the wasted times of undocking and loading cargo demanding boosters.

Was it? I'm sure i was doing that before exodus - I found this out cos TS talk key was ctrl - always wondered why i was randomly targetting people and stuff for ages before i twigged.

It isn't top left, its anywhere. You can right click ANYWHERE, not just top left...

I found a new one yesterday after starting a new character to see what the New Player Experience is like (sooo much better than the tutorial I remember: "This is an asteroid, get mining"). Anyway, you can drag loot to the cargo icon on your HUD. You don't need to have your cargo bay open to drag stuff into it. This will save a bit of screen space I reckon.
It took me a long time to discover the CTRL-click to target thing too. That's mentioned in the tutorial now. I still miss the double-click to warp thing though - especially when my alt was podded for the first time ever a few weeks ago: damn killmail lag!

Two things I found out and luckly survived.
1. When taking courier missions, expand the window so you can see what the escrow is going to be (I didn't know there was such a thing when I did it).
2. When taking said courier mission, DON'T take a mission to a system that sounds like a "Stargate SG-1" gate address, i.e. V-W6GF. Those aren't systems intended for 2 week old characters.

THings i learned.
Destroyers DONT make good mining ships.
Researching Gallente Destroyer (Gal Frig 3 ) was stupid being a caldari char..
Dont waste time researching Destroyer to fly one. they DONT make good combat ships.. your better off in a cruiser,
Buying a procurer is throughly worthless :( save ur 1.4mil isk towards a Retriver (SP?).
Accepting a mate into your corp who seems a bit drunk at times is a BAAD DESCISION (he delted a 2yr old character while drunk.. and disappeared.. havent found out what happened to him.. he took a Typh with his dead character too! :(
Rockets are pretty sad weapons, save up for light missiles (even with teh nerf!)
Get your learning skills up FIRST before deciding on a big research project (GAH! got the retriver and THEN decided to skill my learning :() wasted about a week for NOT doing those skills FIRST.
Gallente Destroyers ARNT as good as a Cormorant.
Never lend a battleship, Destroyer, Frigate etc etc.. a mate blew 3 destroyers of mine up.... decided to take on 'cord with em!! :(
Cor i got about 1000 more examples left..

Same here. I thought total skill points was how many skill points I had to spend on skills, and I had to earn more.
The tutorial had nothing about skill training though. =/

you can do the ctrl + click thing on the overview too, by the way.
I prefer to activate a module and use the crosshairs, personally, but you take the risk of accidentally activating it on the wrong person (with obviously dissappointing results in Empire).

That there are high med and low slot and that I had it set on Medium slots trying to figure out where my mining beam was.... quit the game in 1 hr flat the first time I tried it way back when.

That you could warp to different places by right clicking in empty space. Took me a while before i realized that there were ASTEROID BELTS in this game
That you can target by ctrl-clicking - learned it from the tutorial on SiSi, haven't had time to try the full tutorial tho ;)
That ctrl-clicking does NOT work on pods. That pod had been there for 15 secs!!!
