I have one of your shuttles I found in PF at a safespot. Let me know if you need it back - I haven't renamed or repackaged it, so it still has your name on it.
I'm sure we can come to a suitable financial arrangement to cover the salvage fees. ______________________________________________

Now if you're going to be as obsessively pedantic as me, at least get things right. Technically, it's not floating either, because you're not floating ON anything.
Hovering might work ... except that hovering implies being stationary. And you're not "orbiting" either, while in transit. So .. errr ... well, "travelling" I think. But that just sounds dull. I'll stick to "flying" ____________________________________

actually you don't need to be on anything to float, you can float IN water aswell as ON it, so float would be the correct terminology

Technically... people in space are "falling". Believe me or not... I've talked with folks at NASA about it. You are very slowly falling into a mass's (ie:: planet, moon, star) gravitational pull. It's not flying or floating... it's falling... but drifting I could accept as well =)

Except that you're not floating IN anything either. There's nothing there; space is essentially a vacuum, an absence of things.
This is another example of technological advances having outstripped the language. We use the language of seagoing ships, because there simply aren't any words to describe the motions of spacegoing ships. In fact the only reason we call them SHIPS is because of this anomaly.
And I'll stick with "flying," which is nicked not from seagoing, but airgoing vessels. I just think it sounds more sensible (isn't, but sounds it) for vessels which are not affixed to anything solid, or on, or in, anything liquid.
Anyway, enough of thread hijacking. Some guy is back in EVE, apparently. ____________________________________

That is a common misconception. There is a lot of stuff in space. It does for example have a lot of hydrogen floating about. However, space is so huge that the density of said stuff is very thin, and thus people assume that nothing is there.
The only reason you would be "floating" about is due to the absence of gravity.
Also, the idea of being "motionless" is space is absurd. Motionless compared to what?

Well, exactly. Although in the EVE physical universe, being stationary is entirely possible. A ship could be hovering at a safespot.
A lexicographical nightmare, lol. ____________________________________

How did this get from Widescreen returning to what you are doing in space when your just floating/falling/flying/hovering/whatever.. ?
Meh, anyway... I don't care about either thing tbh.. so..
yeah..

hehe yeah well.. anyways good to hear ppl dont care, makes my new life easy!
hehe.. just cus u cant "see" space doesnt mean it doesnt exist, anyways "Drifting around with ur naked corpse" would fit better cus iif u hwere naked u wouldnt be alive.. wich means u wouldnt go anywhere special... just driiiiift around in emptyness.. all .. all alone...
now, send me minerals for 80mill and ill send u a raven on escrow. and a confirm mail that ive recived the minerals

Hmm, sorry, but nothing in space is motionless. The planets, solar systems and the galaxies themselves are all rotating, flying apart and being pulled by all other bodies in the universe (even if it's not perceptable by our primitve insstruments). There is no stationary object to use as a reference point to determine if you are actually countering all these different angles of motion.
Soooo, when you "think" you're stationary, you are actually only stationary relative to the objects in your perceptable vacinity... you're simply moving at the same speed so it only appears you're stationary.
Anyway, drifting implies lack of intentional direction. Falling wouldn't be correct since you are countering any fall (gravitational pull) by means of your engines. Flying fits the best since the word has many meanings and intentionaly propelling something is one of those meanings.
Errr, what was the original topic?

'You'? What of the composite atoms that make up body? They are always moving in relationship to one another. Pick one atom that is 'you'. _________

In the real world, absolutely. I merely point out that the EVE universe doesn't appear to work like that. For which we should be grateful; if it did, we'd all need a Cray supercomputer just to work out how to get from this station to the one on the next planet. ____________________________________
